5 out of 5 eggs Wonderful value!

Pros: Wonderfully fast! Can't tell much difference between my Q6600 and this 9950 Phenom. The Phenom seems a little more peppy in general windows navigation and photorealistic rendering, but some of that might be because I recently built this PC and the hard drive isn't cluttered yet.

Cons: Needed special motherboard. ASUS M3A78- series that supported 140 Watt CPU.
All older AM2+ motherboards only support 98W or 125W.

Bottom Line: Excellent value, stable architecture.
I'm using an old Arctic 64 HS/cooling fan from my retired Socket 754 Athlon 64 3200+ Clawhammer. It works pretty well.

5 out of 5 eggs Pretty Awsome!

Pros: When you thought dual core was so awsome now I am on quad and it feels great! Had to upgrade to AM2+ mobo but thats ok cause my old mobo died anyway "not form this cpu!" definatly a perfromance increase compared to my Athlon 2.2x2.

Works great with a ASUS 780G - DDR2 800MHz works just fine with this cpu and cant say i have had any stablity isues with it. I bet ya I can OC it like crazy but dont want to for awile cause its plenty fast.

Cons: No stickers :( but its oem so what ya expect.

Bottom Line: I really like this cpu and I have had it folding constantly for the last 48hrs and it has not broke 40c with my liqid cooling. I Find myself waiting on my hard drive reads a lot more then anything else now. If you feel your cpu is bottle necking your computers performance this will deinatly chang that.

4 out of 5 eggs Great Processor

Pros: Quad-core AMD. I was able to replace my athlon x2 2.4ghz with this puppy. What an improvement! Everything runs faster, renders fast, games play great. I didn't realize just how hot those athlon x2 run. My phenom 9950 overclocked to 2.96 with no problems (with an aftermarket air cooler of course) runs about 10 degrees F cooler than my athlon x2 2.4 no overclock. Didn't see that coming. The best part is I just put this is my my Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard (with the latest bios) and it works fantastic! How old is this board????What a cheap upgrade until the new intel's come out and get a reasonable price tag.

Cons: I benchmarked this processor against an Intel quad q9300 @ 2.5 GHz with Cinebench R10. Using just about the same hardware and Vista 64-bit, the Intel running at 2.5Ghz still beat the Phenom running at 2.97Ghz. Not by much, but if I overclocked the 9300, it would have killed the Phenom. Intel's are faster, face it. I wish AMD would come out with some new amazing processor, but without the R&D and manufacturing power Intel has, they will always play second fiddle and that is a shame. Intel needs the competition, for sure. That's why they are so expensive. At least AMD chips are cheap!

Bottom Line: If your running an AMD setup for games and light graphics, right now, this is the chip to get!!! No question. It will be the best upgrade for the price you will ever make, especially if your running a dual core athlon like I was.
I have always been an AMD guy. But my next machine will be an Intel. I need more horsepower and AMD can't deliver anymore. If you are just a gamer and that is it, AMD is the way to go. You don't need an Extreme quad-core at 1000 bucks to play anygame out there. Save your money and go with AMD. Invest it in a good graphics card and fast memory.

5 out of 5 eggs Great Processor

Pros: No doubt the Intel counter part has faster processors but the cost does not justify the cost. Benchmarks show the Intel cpu's to be on average twice as fast but weighing in at 10 times the cost you are silly to buy them unless you are spending alot of time rendering 3d graphics. For the avid gamer this processor is great and cost effective. I'm able to run crysis on the highest settings with no probs.

    Cons: Absolutely Nothing

Bottom Line: AMD 9950 BE, Asus M3A32 - SLI Deluxe Wi-Fi, 4Gb Corsair XMS2 Dominator 1066, ATI 4870, Razer Barracuda sound card, Maxtor 1Tb Sata 32Mb buffer

    5 out of 5 eggs Snow-Man

Pros: Beast........ Walks over my q6600 @ 3.1 any cpu or ram benching test and my intels not on a cheap board so that's not even it (Asus Maximus Formula). Quad users going AMD go 9950 or go the 80 wat buisness class everything else is shabby filler there is no happy medium.

    Cons: None

Bottom Line: 9950 is great don't even bother by getting the 125watt version with wattage comes clock per clock performance, why dog it. It's like telling a Sport car to run on e-85 ethonal that requires race fuel. Look it up sometime or ask someone to cpu bench on vantage or 06 for cpu score @ stock setting vs the two. If your gonna buy a sports car go all out take the time to find a 140+ watt support motherboard, they cost more but the quality and oc ability will rise as well along with the leaner running of the two 9950's.

    5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Went from a Q9300 build to this processer (same ram, same HDS, dif mobo). All I can say is WOW. Far better overclocking for me (got to 3.4ghz, my int3l only got to 3.1). This thingmultitasks (40-ish tabs open, itunes, dreamweaver, photoshop and more open as Im typing) like a dream. Not enough good can be said about it.

    Cons: None?

Bottom Line: This swayed me back to AMD.

1 out of 5 eggs disappointed in amd

Pros: When I purchased the chip, it worked... for a while.

Cons: The chip died 40 days after I purchased it with minimal to no overclocking. My other socket AM2 chips work just fine in the same machine. When I contacted AMD they responded once asking for more information and I didn't hear anything back from the for over 2 weeks despite several follow-up emails. Then when I did get a message back from them, I received a snotty 'you didn't give us your address like we asked' response. I had given my address in a previous email. Overall, I'm very disappointed in both this chip and AMD/ATI. I've only purchased AMD products since my Slot A Thunderbird. My most recent graphic card... an ATI 4870x2. I've always been an AMD advocate. Sadly, this will be my last AMD product.
