    8.1 WEI

Works well, as with the 2 other Intel SSD's I have (330 and 335). Haven't done any speed tests other than WEI. The 5 yr warranty doesn't hurt. Read more

5 out of 5 eggs Consistent Intel SSD Performance

Pros: - Consistent performance. I have exclusively used Intel SSDs since 2011 and have never been disappointed, unlike some drives from other manufacturers with buggy firmware.
    - Adds new life into a ~2007 Toshiba T135 laptop running Windows 7.
    - Intel's SSD toolbox makes optimizing Windows for an SSD simple. Easy to schedule periodic TRIM.

Cons: - Not the highest performing drive, nor the cheapest drive for a given capacity.

Bottom Line: - Super thin (5mm). Comes with a plastic stick-on adapter to make it 7mm. This was needed for installation into the Toshiba.
    - No free SATA cable or 2.5" to 3.5" adapter with OEM packaging. If you want that make sure you order the retail packaging.

5 out of 5 eggs reliable

    Pros: reliability

Cons: price - performance is good but not great, there are much faster drives for a similar price.

Bottom Line: When shopping for hard drives my priority is reliablity first with price/performance being an after thought. I've seen enough SSD's to know that intel #1 when it comes to SSD reliability and this is why they are my first choice.

    4 out of 5 eggs Intel 530 SSD - 240 GB

Pros: Fast drive. Purchased in early March 2014.

Cons: The drive failed just before Christmas. PC did not boot, the drive didn't show in the BIOS, no longer powering up. Contacted Intel support and received RMA number after a description of the problem. Within 24 hours of their receipt of the failed drive I received a replacement.

Surprised with the excellent service w/ no hassles.

Bottom Line: Using Crystal DiskMark over time, the drive Reads have held steady at 450 MB/s while Writes declined over 3 months from 326 MB/s to 140 - 150 MB/s - and have then held steady. This is consistent with what I've read on performance degradation over time for this drive.

However, this is not apparent in day-to-day usage and the drive is quick.

5 out of 5 eggs Single Most Upgrade Available

Pros: Boot speed is hands down the biggest improvement. By far this upgrade is more noticeable than any other, CPU....etc. Apps load almost instantaneously.

3 out of 5 eggs Fast but crash prone with large writes

Pros: This drive is extremely fast with programs and boot. Works great except for when it doesn't work at all.

Cons: The drive was installed as a data drive and then an OS drive in a workstation and crashed nearly every time during large write operations.

Bottom Line: I hoped a firmware update would have fixed the crash issues but no luck.

5 out of 5 eggs Faster than my CPU

Pros: The CPU is now the bottleneck. Drive is so fast that my CPU stays at 100% many times. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo P8600.

    Cons: None.

Bottom Line: A must for gaming. However make sure your system can process the data as fast as it comes in.
