    5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid performance from these drives. Decent transfer speeds (rough average for 5400RPM drives connected via USB 2.0).

I have owned these for over a year with no complaints related to them.

Cons: Rather slow spin-up times. I would venture to guess that this is resultant from what I suspect are Green drives.

Bottom Line: Despite the usage of Green Drives, power draw is low. I currently run 2 of these (and a third 2TB one) on a file server as an external backup.

4 out of 5 eggs Just grabbed one for $100

Pros: Cheap, paid $100 at J&R. Big space for the price. The case itself is very sleek and the cord for the AC adapter is quite long.

Cons: Like others have stated, the transfer rates are not great. Averaging 27.5MB/Second at the moment. Moving approximately 550GB will take 5hrs 45mins, as per Win7.

Bottom Line: I tested a single 6GB file, found it stalling every ten seconds for about 5 seconds then quickly starting again. Moving the 500GB (copy and paste natch) to see how well this works. No problem with the plate being off kilter in the back. Not sure why people are complaining about the LED, its in the back of the drive and its tiny. Just put a piece of black tape over it.

2 out of 5 eggs Great while it lasted

Pros: Okay, the product itself was great, it was cheap, affordable and it looked pretty.

Cons: Very slow transfer speed (just barely scraping 2.0 usb speeds), only lasted TWO months. Yeah, you heard it here, 2 months and it already fried on me, awesome that the refund policy didn't cover it.

Bottom Line: Shoot for something else, I'm quite distraught that my device didn't work so soon.

4 out of 5 eggs Work great, not super speedy

Pros: Work out of the box. Network storage device recognized them right out of the box at the max available space of 2.27 TB or so. Windows home server running on an older Dell had no issues with them either. I purchased two. One as a backup for my media and one as the primary media drive. No issues so far.

Cons: Bright activity light. A little slow on the data transfer but not so slow that it cause any problems watching stuff across the network.

Bottom Line: I have had these since the end of July and have not had the problems others have reported. They are on all the time and they are never moved. So far no issues.

1 out of 5 eggs Never Again

    Pros: Nice capacity, easy setup.

Cons: VERY unreliable. I read other reviews on this drive crashing but, decided to give it a try at the low price. Two months after the warrantee, it crashed as described by others.

Bottom Line: If you purchase this drive, be sure to have the data backed up to another media. Expect this drive to fail.

2 out of 5 eggs Fuster Cluck

Pros: The drives are a good bang for your buck.

Cons: If you plug more than 1 into a computer at the same time the computer will only recognize 1 drive. This makes moving files between multiple WD Elements hard drives completely impossible.
