5 out of 5 eggs Everything you need, nothing you dont.

Pros: An excellent inexpensive remote control that work!
This thing is very very good: light, all the right controls all in the right places, no drivers needed, no lag

Cons: A backlight would be nice

2 out of 5 eggs Buttons wore out after less than a year

Pros: -Includes USB infrared receiver that didn't require manual driver installation
-Has stop button, launch WMC button (both buttons my old WMC remote didn't have, really annoying)

Cons: -Really small volume and channel rockers
-Volume and channel rocker wore out after less then a year, now requires me to press on it super hard to make it do anything
-Several times the microprocessor in the remote has frozen, requiring removal and reinsertion of the batteries to restart the remote (sounds weird, but trust me. Batteries NOT dead. Some buttons make the "sending" light light, other don't. The buttons don't send the right signal: pushing channel up will hit pause or something weird like that. All fixed by restarting the remote, but really stupid annoying. I'm not sure if the remote freezing occurrences coincide with solar flares ;)
-The above two cons make me believe that this remote is a really just a cheap piece of junk.

Bottom Line: I've had remotes wear out after about 5 or 10 years, but one year?
Cheap piece of junk.

5 out of 5 eggs Media Center Remote

Pros: This works right out of the box with Windows 7 Ultimate Media Center. I paired this with some software I found called Intelliremote which I purchased after playing with the freeware version. The Intelliremote software unlocks the full potential of this remote as it allows any IR remote that works with the Rosewill receiver to be programmed to do any functions you can think of. The software even works with AutoIT scripting for Windows.

Cons: The remote isn't really a universal remote but, it does work well for my purpose, which was a Media Center Remote.

Bottom Line: Purchase the Intelliremote to unlock the full potential of this remote. Intelliremote software full version senses the software you load, such as XBMC or VLC or Media Center and you can then program the remote to do whatever functions you need it to within those softwares. The Intelliremote software will even allow you to choose the function you want to happen, and then you can choose the button to perform that function with the remote learning ability in the software.

5 out of 5 eggs Eggcellent

Pros: -Works with both my Windows 7 and XBox 360 right out of the box.
-The USB Infrared Receiver has a long enough cord so I can place it where I want it.
-The angle this works with its receiver (not the XBox) is very good. I can point it in the opposite direction and it still picks up the signal.
-The button placements and shape make it easy to feel your way around the remote, even if there are no back lights.

Cons: -Sometimes controls the XBox and the PC at the same time. It would be nice if there were a switch or something to tell it who to "talk" to.
-It does not work with other media players such as VLC. However, I think this is a Windows problem not a remote problem.

Bottom Line: I've used this pretty much on a daily basis for the last year, I still haven't had to replace the batteries.

I use this with Windows Media Center, Media Browser extension on a HTPC. It's not very flashy, but it does the job well!

2 out of 5 eggs Stop working

Pros: It worked right out the box with xbmc, for which I bought it for.
I was pretty please with it until it stop working the second day. I'm using it with window 7. The funny thing is that it work great
on with my laptop. But just stop functioning with my desktop.

Cons: Thought it would last longer than 2 days. I'm going to have to rma it and get another brand.

Bottom Line: I give it 2 stars because it stop working the second day on my desktop

Manufacturer Responses:

Dear Valued Customer, If the unit still works with your laptop, then I suspect something in your desktop has changed. That would be the only explanation of why it doesn't work. Do you see it in the device manager? Are you seeing any question or exclamation points in your device manager as well? Please contact the Rosewill support team either via phone at 800-575-9885 or via email at techsupport@rosewill.com so that we can assist you with your issue. Thanks, Rosewill Customer Care
