    Don't walk - run.

    1. Win 7 64 bit drivers don't work. Of course, it's hard to tell because the driver installation software runs in a DOS box and doesn't report results, so I'm not sure if they actually installed or not. 2. The display does not fit in a standard ... Read more

    Quick Info

Ever seen one of those computer cases with the LCD status reports and wished you were as well-informed? Or maybe you were just suffering from gadget-envy.

Well, nMediaPC makes this handy OEM-grade display that lets you be informed of your computer status just like those much more expensive computer cases. ("OEM? What does that mean to me?" It means you have to buy a little mounting rack and download the drivers from their website when you install it.) It fits handily into a five and a quarter inch drive bay and hooks up to a USB port. What will it display? More than I have room to talk about, but it can tell you about CPU usage, temperature, fan speeds, what music track your CD is playing . . . check out their website for more.

Whether it's something you need, or just a handy item you could use, decide for yourself if this is the one for you. We'll still be waiting when you're done.

1 out of 5 eggs Tech support

Pros: Would look great if it worked

Cons: The tech support is awfull had been getting a error on my computer when i installed the software on my computer and they came back with this responce

This is a known issue for some users. Please google the error and + PRO-LCD, some users resolved the issue and post online. It ONLY happened on some OS, we don’t know what cause that.

Bottom Line: I would not reccomend this product to any one

4 out of 5 eggs It make my case stand out

Pros: It was an easy install
once I adjusted the brightness it was readable 2 to 5 feet
it gives options to make custom logos
I like the transition option between screens

Cons: The software needs updating I know this is an old product but seeing how a lot of people bought it we need updates.
all the info tabs work on auto user except mobo temps and fan speeds I have speedfan installed it does show my fan rpms and gpu/cpu temps in the m play software ,but for some reason when I add that module to auto user it remains blank however if I shut speedfan down it says speedfan is not running. everything is showing up in speedfan except for voltages which I don't care about anyway but I would like the mobo temps and fan speeds displayed I have spent many hours trying to get this to work with no success.

Bottom Line: if anyone has a gigabyte z77x-ud5h mobo and got those options to work please post up I'd appreciate it.

3 out of 5 eggs Good LCD, Poor Software

Pros: Easy install depending on the case you are using. Drivers work even with Windows 10.

Cons: The M-Play software you have to download to make this work, does not work correctly. It says it works with Windows 8 and I tried ti with Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.

I ended up searching the Net only to find out the the MFR of this LCD no longer exists so no software. I had to find another software to use to make this work. Even with the LCD Smartine software I found, it still does not have the features stated on nMEDIAPC's website.

Because of the Software issue, this is definitely NOT a Plug and play item.

1 out of 5 eggs small blur of light - disapointed

Pros: installed as expected. mounted OK. software and drivers loaded OK. no problems with install.

Cons: A display you can not read is useless.
stand more than 6 feet away and all you see is a blue blur. software is very hard to figure out and not for beginners. Took a lot of time to set up. Hard to display info you would like to display.

Bottom Line: Tried for a basic clock after playing with it for a week and I am still disappointed. can not read the clock unless you are standing right on top of it.

4 out of 5 eggs Works Perfectly!

Pros: Easy to install. Looks really good. Displays nearly all the information I would have it display. Fairly easy to program. The print is easy to read from up to 8 feet away.

Cons: Wish I could change the color to red or white rather than being stuck with the blue. Also a few options I'd like to see in the programming software, like how long to hold at the end of scrolled text. Also changing temperature display in the programming software from C to F does not change what is displayed on the LCD bar.

Bottom Line: Overall this is a very good upgrade for the nMedia case. Well worth the money! Also, contrary to several other reviews, I had no difficulty installing the software on Windows 7 64-bit.

You will need to install a free program called "Speedfan" for the LCD bar to get information from your motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggs Replacement for possible mistake.

Pros: Programmable display for my media pc OEM designed for my nMediaPC case.

Cons: First one tested fine on one machine then failed to work on new build. Could have been user error.

3 out of 5 eggs Some issues

Pros: It has a variety of preset settings with free software from manufacturers site.
Easy setup for tech knowledge medium and up.
    Blue looks good.

Cons: I had some issues with my machine recognizing this. I had it working fine at first, then I had to reboot for an unrelated reason. When Windows started back up, it acted like it was never installed. I tried updating drivers, rebooting many many times. Unplugging, rebooting, turning off, plugging in again, etc etc. Nothing worked. I turned the machine off when I left for the weekend, when I came back and started it up, it was working again. Very odd issue.

Others said it was hard to read from across the room, they aren't lying. This is a con for an HTPC setup, which I assume most people are using it for, since it's made for an HTPC case.

Bottom Line: There is currently not a way to get info from XBMC with Windows 7. This is NOT a shortcoming of the product, it's just an undeveloped idea in XBMC for Windows. This is just something you should be aware of. Since it doesn't tell me any XMBC info, I don't really have a use it. Unfortunately this is kind of the LCD that was 'made' for the case I got. I wish the folks at XBMC would come up with a solution. On the other hand, there has been varying levels of success with XBMC for Linux and this device if you Google it.

If you don't like the software provided, there's a much more in depth program called LCD Smartie, which I got to work with this device by using a few Google searches. It involved placing a driver by hand, and selecting it manually in the software and telling it which COM port your device is on. Nothing incredibly difficult, and I actually like LCD Smartie a little more.

If I were to do it again, I'd find a different brand with the same dimensions, or maybe just not buy one. Overall, it does what it claims (except the random issue mentioned before).

4 out of 5 eggs Works well

Pros: With a little case hacking I was able to get this to fit inside of the Thermaltake Level 10GT's 3.5" FDD bay.

Cons: Would be cool if you could mod the application a little further, the variables offered for displays are pretty limited.

2 out of 5 eggs Goes Out

    Pros: Bright

Cons: Archaic programming software. It no longer works after a few months. Maybe this is isolated but dont expect miracles with it.
