1 out of 5 eggs Broken

Pros: Not DOA enough to have to RMA it.

Cons: USB 3.0 packaged driver and the website driver cause instability in mumble client on a clean windows 7 install, as well as static and popping in voice audio rendering me broken and unreadable. The USB 3.0 is wholly unusable on this board as removing the driver cleared up ALL of the issues. The whole act of trouble shooting cost me about three days, a lot of stress, data loss, the works.

Heatsinks on the mainboard are attached by the lowest bidder and nearly ripped off while installing the board.

The BIOS also likes to freeze up on entry every so often, yes, my system is stable.

Doesn't like to boot up or shut down with any kind of usb drive attached.

Bottom Line: First gigabyte board I'm unhappy with. I use this brand exclusively for system building and have always recommended them but no more. Rig was built for starcitizen and I'll be directing our 1,200+ org members, many of which are also upgrading, to other brands.

2 out of 5 eggs Broken USB 3.0, First time unhappy

    Pros: Its not fully broken.

Cons: *Heatsinks are attached by the lowest bidder with plastic tabs and springs.
*USB 3.0 is absolutely useless. Both the packaged driver and lastest website driver, 3.0.0.16? interfere with USB 2.0 and other parts of the system. It causes instability in VOIP programs, and so much crackling and popping in my voice that I'm broken and unreadable. Problems ceased when I removed the driver, however, this means all my USB 3.0 ports default to USB2.0 speeds.

This whole nightmare of troubleshooting cost me about 3-4 days of wasted time, multiple formats, data loss, and a stress ulcer.

Bottom Line: I used to use Giga-byte boards exclusively for all system I build and recommend them furiously because there was a time when they were rock solid and trouble free, but I guess that time is passed. Given I built this rig for star citizen and there are over 1,000 people in our organization, many of whom are upgrading as well, word travels fast when something stinks. This is the first time in years that I've managed to be unhappy with a component.

I'll be using a different brand when I upgrade again. Thankfully I didn't get a Gigabyte GTX 980 and stuck with EVGA.

5 out of 5 eggs great no frills performance and reliability

Pros: It's simple and it works awesome. Plextor m6e, 2Tb WD green, Radeon R9-290, 8 gb corsair ram. I don't need a bunch of extra junk on my mobo I just want simple and reliable.

    Cons: none so far

2 out of 5 eggs Its a great motherboard, when it works; when something is wrong; hard time with support

    Pros: All black,
    8 phase power
lots of USB 2.0 and 3.0,
    very sturdy,
Heat sink does not obstruct the CPU cooler,
great on board sound, with optical out; it was brilliant
    5 year warranty

Wondering why two stars? read the cons

Cons: The service, support just do not respond. No matter how great a hardware is; if you can not back it with good support; it will not be a success.

My motherboard went kaput recently; which can happen to any hardware; I shoot a mail to support and no response from them. None at all; not even an acknowledgement.

Bottom Line: I observed same pattern when I complained about rebate; which I never received.

The support person at Newegg is prompt but he just routes it to actual support I believe; and they hardly support you ironically.

I once happen to return an Intel Motherboard, got a brand new replacement no questions ask in a week time. After that I have been using Gigabyte motherboards for 4-5 years now; and they never broke on me; but now that this is broke; I will see how they fix it;. Which will decide if I recommend them or not.

5 out of 5 eggs nice motherboard.

Pros: heat sink arrays do not get in the way of anything
    1150 socket with upgrade potential
SLI capable, plenty of headers for anything I could need.
3 conveniently located fan headers handle all of my cooling needs (with a few splitters)
Very user friendly layout with a good manual going through everything I could need.
the led light is kindof nice

Cons: the M.2 socket isn't really needed, and I see no reason to ever use it.

Bottom Line: Got this on a deal for my first PC build, it was easy to set up and load the drivers.
The only issue I had was with the easytune software and hardware monitoring package that came with it. The program caused some instability that caused my computer to crash when idle for more than 20 minutes when using a g3258.
uninstalled the program and have had no problems since.

5 out of 5 eggs Amazing motherboard

Pros: Guaranteed to work on arrival

    Cons: NONE

Bottom Line: worked perfectly for me for the first few months I had it but a bad power supply has just ruined it and it forces me to RMA it. the PSU that wrecked it was the CX750 currently RMAing that as well.

1 out of 5 eggs Okay board if it didn't mess up so much

    Pros: Easy to install
A lot of options in the BIOS

Cons: The rear panel USB never worked well for my usb wifi adapter, disconnects the adapter constantly, no driver can fix it. The adapter works just fine on my 2 other laptops and 2 other desktops. Since I have a PCI-E wifi card, I don't really care as long as my mouse/keyboard works well when plugged there.

I bought this in Dec 15, 2014, so it has been 4 months since I had it, and, today Apr 3 2015, the rear panel audio jack is messed up suddenly. I can't hear anything through my earphone and headsets, the stereo with sub play really distorted sound. Reinstalled drivers, even windows, I tried 7/8/8.1/ and even 10 10041 preview, none worked.

Bottom Line: Gonna try RMA it, and hopefully they will send me a new one that will last a few years.

1 out of 5 eggs Failed after 7 months

    Pros: RAID setup was easy/convenient.

Cons: Failed after 7 months. Sent into Gigabyte for repair (supposedly has a 3 year warranty). They sent it back in the same condition after about 10 days. I am going to just have to eat the cost and buy a new motherboard. Won't choose Gigabyte again. Support is difficult to contact. Waited 3 days for a response from the ticket system.

5 out of 5 eggs Great Motherboard

Pros: Not sure if the whole server testing for so many hours is hocus pocus but the reason I got this board was because my Asrock Pro4 died on me after a couple months, and I would rather do everything I can to avoid that from happening with another motherboard. So far the board has been great. seems reliable and durable, I do a lot of overclocking on my system. Also, this item is at a good price point.

Cons: There is no power button on the board like other high end boards, I am a believer in testing the board before fully gearing up the rest of the case. Also I would like the LCD error code display that comes with other boards with the power button

Bottom Line: I think it is a good idea to buy the black edition because they are more reliable, so far that is how it seems.
