Dont spend more than you have to on more expensive boards

There is alot to talk about - this is where price meets performance o 8 SATA ports 4 SATA 3 and 4 SATA 2 ! o 8 USB 2 3.0 6 2.0 (remember your external hard drive really isnt going to be limited too much by 2.0 so dont sweat not having more than ... Read more

    Decent, but had problems

However, I got bizarre periodic lag spikes for some reason, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why since no one else on my network was getting them. Eventually I replaced the motherboard and I've not had the same issue since. It's ... Read more

    2 out of 5 eggs Terrible Quality/Support

    Pros: -Cheap
    -Worked for a year

    Cons: -Didn't even 2 years

Bottom Line: I bought and installed this mobo in August of 2011. It died last week, after giving me problems for the last few months before that.

No big deal, you might say. The problem is, their RMA service takes forver, i'm on my second week of dealing with this, and thats with me paying for overnight shipping to their HQ. Now that they have my mobo, they wont even decide if they'll send me a replacement for another 5-7 business days. Thats alot of time i'll be without my desktop because of some shoddily made product.

    Manufacturer Responses:

5 out of 5 eggs Great Value Board

Pros: Easy to install, easy to power up. Has all the slots needed for those of us that find 1 video card adequate. Stable. No hick-ups on the install. Picked up my SSD and HDD no problem. Easiest install ever. I love Asrock boards, I have tried several brands that I do not think I am allowed to name and Asrock has always delivered the performance and stability. I cannot understand why people have given this board less than 5 stars.

Cons: I have large hands so a little more width wouldn't hurt.

Bottom Line: In all honesty I doubt that the Gold caps add that much to the board. I think that one is more for show.

4 out of 5 eggs Giving ASRock a try!

Pros: I really like the BIOS screen and how easy it was to update! Has everything I need for a solid gaming build, nothing fancy.

Cons: Board is "flimsy" compared to other manufacturers. and it doesn't come with a speaker dongle to plug into the mobo.

The manual was could have done more with pictures instead of graphs.

Bottom Line: Giving ASRock a shot for this years PC build, so far I'm impressed with the simple look and the ease of everything.

5 out of 5 eggs Very good, exactly what I need

Pros: This is exactly what I paid for. It is smaller than my old one, easier to figure out/wire and is all around great for gaming (and I mean hardcore gaming)

Cons: Only downside would be that you can't put 2 graphics cards on PCI express 3.0 as there is only 1 slot

3 out of 5 eggs Great Functions, Horrible Quality

Pros: Had every single feature that I wanted in a motherboard.

Cons: The quality of the motherboard feels really cheap. The SATA ports allow the cords to wiggle a lot while in the ports. The board itself is really flexible instead of stiffer boards. a month ago my computer would start shutting of randomly, sometimes when I would bump the case it would shut off too. I checked all the wires/connections and nothing would cause it to shut off that I could reproduce. Today it actually shut off and would post until I removed the CMOS Battery and then it would recognize two of my four RAM cards. I check the RAM by swapping cards and it turns out that the ports A1& B1 won't work now. . . . I had many different types of motherboards, but none of them gave out in a year and a half.

    Manufacturer Responses:

Dear ASRock Customer We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please check the grounding issues between chassis and mainboard including ATX power connector is firmly plugged on connector. For the memory slots issue, please clear the CMOS. Reinstall CPU and cooler to assure fully contact with the mainboard's contact pins. If you have any technical issues or warranty questions please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. 4 out of 5 eggs Pretty good

Pros: -easy to navigate UEFI BIOS
    -lots of SATA slots
    -solid board
-decent overclocking board but 4+2 phase limits how far you can go.

Cons: Limited overclocking, 4.4-4.6GHz is about as far as you can expect before you start cooking the 4+2 VRM.

Pick another board if you're looking for Nvidia SLI. However even crossfiring isn't a great idea since the second slot only runs at x4 which will choke modern cards.

Bottom Line: The only board that allows me to overclock a locked i5 3550 to 4GHz (most motherboards won't let you go past 37x with the CPU), I do plan on replacing it with an i7 3770K soon though and I should be able to get it to 4.6GHz.

Plays all my games just fine using an AMD R9 280X card and 8GB G.Skill DDR3 1600 ram.
