    Nice RAM, Bad QA

G.SKILL apparently has bad QA. I've had two sets fail on me now. The heat spreaders stick up just a bit too much. I would likely not be able to fill all four of my slots with this RAM, as one stick doesn't look like it'd fit under the CPU ... Read more

5 out of 5 eggs G.SKILL Always Makes Me Proud!

Pros: I have never had a problem with G.SKILL RAM, have used it tons of times in many builds. Always dependable and good looking, never had one die on me yet. I don't OC my RAM so can't comment on that.

2 out of 5 eggs Failed twice

    Pros: N/A

Cons: I purchased in December, one of the 2 sticks failed. I had to pay to ship back. The replacement worked for just over 5 months and failed yet again. Both DIMMs failed this time.

Bottom Line: Would not go with G.Skill again if purchasing. The Corsair 4GB ones I still have work much better and have lasted several years now.

    1 out of 5 eggs 1400 errors in memtest86 - UPDATE

    Pros: Begin previous review-------

    4/14/2015

    1,400 Errors in Memtest86, Test 13

    Pros: None

Cons: For the past 2 weeks, my custom-built PC has been getting random BSODs. I come home to find the error message "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown".

After a little over 2 years of ownership, Memtest86 found 1,400 errors with Test 13, Row Hammer Test. I made another pass, and sure enough, the number of errors found doubled. It seems that G.SKILL memory has an issue of failing Test 13, so I suggest avoiding this brand overall.

Other Thoughts: I have been issued an RMA, I will update when the kit arrives and PASSES Test 13.

    MSI GD65-Z77A

    Asus GTX 970 Strix
    240gb + 180gb SSD

    Manufacturer Response:
    .
    Dear Customer

We will be glad to help with this issue. This memory kit is above standard, so please make sure to configure settings in BIOS/EFI, or enable the XMP/DOCP performance profile. Without doing so, the RAM may not be recognized properly and that can cause errors. Also, check that you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. There are many possible causes for memory test errors. The issue may not only originate from the RAM, but it can be the CPU and motherboard as well since they are key components linked with memory. Should you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact us directly.

    Thank you

    ----------------end previous review

Cons: Since the manufacturer responded, and thinks I'm dumb, here's my follow up review. It's NOT MY MOBO OR CPU. I had XMP/DOCP enabled/disabled, and ran the same test. The results are the same. These sticks had over 1,400 errors either way. I have the latest UEFI bios , 10.11. My CPU is at stock speed, so it's not that, either. This ram really, really sucks.

BTW, an RMA replacement was shipped out from Walnut, CA, 3 days ago. They used First Class mail. It will take 4 days to reach me here, in San Diego. They could've used priority mail, but this company loves cutting corners. It even shows in their shipping department, as well. Haha. The whole experience has been a nightmare.

Bottom Line: Last week, I ordered this kit while waiting for my RMA from G.SKILL: HX318C9SRK2/16. This HyperX Kit from Kingston passed with flying colors. 8 passes and over eight hours later, zero errors. I haven't looked back since. I recommend this ram instead, and the best part is that newegg sells it! Cheers!

    Manufacturer Responses:
