    Nice RAM, Bad QA

G.SKILL apparently has bad QA. I've had two sets fail on me now. The heat spreaders stick up just a bit too much. I would likely not be able to fill all four of my slots with this RAM, as one stick doesn't look like it'd fit under the CPU ... Read more

    Cons: None yet

Bottom Line: Wish I'd have paid attention, didn't notice it was 1600 until I got it.

5 out of 5 eggs Nice Looking Ram

Pros: I'll admit, half the purchase appeal was the looks. 2nd was because I wanted 16GB of ram and when I sorted by popularity and/or featured, this was at the top with a great price and (many) great reviews. So far no issues, will be running MemTestx86 this weekend for 12h. Hopefully I won't need to change my review.

Cons: None so far. Bit hard to get out of the plastic package, was worried I'd break them.

5 out of 5 eggs Works

Pros: The memory works and I haven't had any problems with it. It's also inexpensive.

    Cons: I've had no problems.

Bottom Line: It's hard to give memory a review. Memory plugs in to the motherboard, operates at its native clock speed, connects to the memory management unit in the motherboard chipset, which connects to the CPU. In my system I use this memory, have a Z97 and an 4th gen i7. My setup is working well for me.

5 out of 5 eggs Very good!

Pros: They perform exactly as advertised.

    Heat spreaders.

    Cons: None.

Bottom Line: I picked up 16 initially and then another 16 later on. The price on ram clearly is coming down- but it was worth it to lock it in and go.

They look good- but who ever looks at ram?

5 out of 5 eggs No problems so far

Pros: Seems to be working as intended & advertised. Not sure what else to put since I don't overclock.

Cons: 1) So I put my new parts in, and everything was working, however the ram wouldn't go beyond 667(1333). I've never messed with changing RAM/Motherboard settings, so I didn't know what to do. After I wrote a review on my Gaming 5 motherboard, I figured out all I had to do was click the XMP button in my BIOS, and voila! the RAM now shows as 800(1600)!

    2) Only other con was a clearance problem with the outside fan of my Noctua NH-D14 I bought. Was very easily fixed by raising the outside fan just slightly. The actual heatsink clears, but the outside fan will need to be adjusted upwards slightly(takes like 5 secs) if you place that HSF on a Gaming 5 mobo sideways over this ram.

Bottom Line: I had bought this ram with an i7 4790k, MSI Gaming 5 motherboard, Seasonic 850w PSU & MSI r9 390 even though I don't overclock, just because some of the parts came in a package deal.

5 out of 5 eggs Works as advertised

    Pros: Works as advertised

    Cons: None

Bottom Line: Bought three sets of these and been running them in GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-HD3 at 1600. Still working and run Memtest+ for a couple days w/o errors.

2 out of 5 eggs Can't get it to go over 667MHz

    Pros: It's ram.
    It stays cool.
    It's stable at low speeds.

Cons: I can't get this stuff over 667MHz. Goes all wonky and won't load the system. Running it with a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 and an AMD Vishera FX-8350.

    Manufacturer Responses:

. Dear Customer We will be glad to help with this issue. First, make sure you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. [667MHz is DDR3-1333] In order to enable the performance values of the RAM, you will need to load the XMP/DOCP profile, or manually input settings in BIOS. Also, make sure the RAM is installed in the same color slots furthest away from the CPU. This is a fantastic memory kit for that motherboard, so if you need help setting it up, just let us know. We can make sure the RAM is running fast and stable in your computer. With 16GB of DDR3-1600 800MHz, the operating system will be nice and smooth under any circumstance.
