Robust & Scalable With Optimized Server Reliability
Synology® DiskStation DS2413+ is a high performance NAS server scalable up to 24 drives for enterprise users, specifically designed for businesses that requires an efficient way to centralize data protection, simplify data management, and rapidly expand storage capacity with minimal time spent on setup and management.
Pros: Easy to setup and manage - Well built and has loads of features - Simple easy to use UI.
Cons: The drive bays don't have a positive snap like on the DS1812 Model - Installing drives feels a bit flimsy.
Bottom Line: Installed 12x 4TB WD RED - SHR with 2x redundancy + Hot spare = 32.7TB total. Synology NAS's love talking to other Synology NAS's and its very easy to setup UPS server and auto-backup solutions among the family of five Synology NAS's I have.

Pros: Been up and running 24/7 with very little downtime for 6+ months with no issues. Filled with 10 3 TB WD RED drives and 2 old 3 TB Hitachi drives i had laying around. Added the DX1211 expansion box a month ago along with 4 WD RED 4 TB drives. Being able to simply expand the existing volume is great. It took a day or so to expand the array, but the process was easy.
Very impressed with the Synology OS and the apps they provide. Easy to use and good library of software. They're releasing updates and new apps on a regular bases. Good support and active user base make finding info easy.
Cons: There is a port of Plex server available and it runs fine, but the hardware is not powerful enough to support transcoding.
With this much data it would be nice to have ECC RAM and ZFS file system to protect against file corruption.
Bottom Line: Happy with the purchase. For the price, one could build a freeNAS box that resolves all of my Cons if you want to invest the time and effort. Otherwise Synolgy provides an all around good easy to use NAS with all the software that most users would want.

Rating: 5/5Great NAS to store almost anything

Pros: Fast, huge storage space, expandable, flexible, multiple RAID policies, large number of add-on packages to do almost anything. Excellent UPS support and large number of HDD supported (check Synology compatibility site).
Cons: Pricey especially if fitted with enterprise-grade drives. Speed depends on file sizes with smaller files transferring slower than large files. Still can easily reach 100MB/s in either case on a single 1 Gbps network link over CIFS. Double if you are able to aggregate 2x1Gbps ethernet.
Bottom Line: No regrets here, very powerful, excellent resiliency.

Pros: none unless you consider data loss a good thing...
Cons: Worst technology purchase ever. Stay away. Continually claims volumes "crash" and you lose all data on them. Tried both RAID 5 and 6 no difference in terms of volumes crashing and you lose all of your data. Used same disks in another RAID product and it works perfectly, no issues. Don't make same mistake I did.
Bottom Line: find another product, this one is horrible. You will waste all of your loading data onto it, as it will crash multiple disks for no reason.
