    Pretty good but fair QC

I have bought several of the AAKX drives in various sizes. All are a speed improvement over previous AAKS drives. HDTune4.6 Pro reports of MAX MB/s 125-ish and MIN MB/s 65-ish. Access times sub 13ms. This is the standard Benchmark reports. ... Read more

1 out of 5 eggs underwhelming

    Pros: Not noisy at all.

Cons: it is slow, very slow, I don't recommed it for gaming, specially simulation games. it takes 4 mins to boot after just 2 weeks of format and installing FSX with its addons. So I'm gathering some coins to buy an SSD.

Bottom Line: just for rarely PC use, iternet, music, movies...

3 out of 5 eggs Underwhelming

    Pros: It Works
    Price

    Cons: It's Slow

Bottom Line: For an "average" performance HDD, I find the performance lacking. I wasn't expecting Velociraptor performance, to be sure... but I at least expected it to beat the 5200 rpm Seagate drive I had in my laptop.

I'll always buy WD, but I won't be buying Blue drives again. If I wanted mediocre performance, I'd have bought Green.

5 out of 5 eggs Reliable

Pros: I've been using this drive for over two years, and i'm still using it today. It runs just as good as it did when I bought it.

I also love the speed at which the drive transfers, with 6Gb/s, it reduces load times in games significantly.

Cons: If your planning on gaming in the future, get a hard drive with a bit more cache, just to keep things smoothly running.

Bottom Line: I recommend getting a one to two terabyte hard drive, since you can get a Western Digital one for around the same price as this one. You may have to sacrifice speed and cache size, but the larger storage is definitely worth it. (In many cases, it's actually and upgrade in which you Don't have to sacrifice anything)

    1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: So far there aren't any.

Cons: I bought this drive 12/31/14 I just installed it in my computer as a back drive. I have 3 other drives a Seagate 1T, and 2 Western Digital drives 650 gig Sata and a 150 gig IDE.

The drive checks out as good but neither my Mother Board Windows will recognize this drive. I have tried everything Western Digital suggested but nothing works. The Mother Board is an MSI 880g-E45 I you are looking for a drive avoid this one.

2 out of 5 eggs not so much

    Pros: reasonable price

Cons: short life. Hard drive has a light load and is accessed rather infrequent. It's not even six months since installed and its about to fail. At least its giving me warning.
Not the quietest, but they don't advertise it to be, but it gets loud when spins up from idle and getting louder as its about to die.

3 out of 5 eggs Failed after two years

Pros: It was reliable and cost effective

Cons: Hard drive received several reallocated sectors and became really sluggish after two years. Purchased in 11/2013. Going to buy another hard drive for the machine.

5 out of 5 eggs Great everyday use Hard drive

    Pros: Quiet
    Performance for price
    Reliability

    Cons: none

Bottom Line: If you have a build that you do not need the speed of the WD Black drives go for this Blue drive, Performance is better than the Green drive and they are very reliable drives, and quiet. I have used these in many pc builds and so far for the past 5 years have not had a single one fail!
