A pretty nice monitor.

First of all, when you set this thing on your desk, you'll instantly become giddy with excitement. Turned off, it looks beautiful sitting there. Nice and big without being ridiculous. The screen is bright, text is sharp. Colors are nice after calibration. Dead Space 2 looks great. That's all I've gotten around to doing. Also, barely any lightbleed!

Best Monitor I Have Seen

5 out of 5 eggs
Glossy screen with SHARP color and contrast. The screen NOT having the matte diffusing layer allows this monitor to have a sharp picture. The matte layer on other monitors diffuse light shining on the screen to eliminate glare. But this same matte layer also diffuses the light coming from the monitor making the image less sharp (kind of fuzzy). For home use where I watch video I prefer a glossy screen.

5 out of 5 eggs Great monitor

Pros: This picture and color right out of the box is amazing. I have owned this thing for over a year with no problems what so ever. The only issue is the reflective surface of the screen does result in high levels of glare. As my office is pretty void of natural light its not a problem.

Cons: As mentioned the glare is the only issue I have encountered.

1 out of 5 eggs Died after a year and a month.

Pros: It has a great picture I'll have to admit, but the fact that it died with no warning after 1 year and 1 month kind of spoils the whole thing.

No flicker, no problem, just turned it on this morning and it won't acknowledge any input. I tried DVI and HDMI and a different computer and nothing works. I got out my old monitor and it works fine with my computer so the problem is pretty obvious.

Cons: It died.

Bottom Line: I really think a monitor ought to last more than a year and a month.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looks great, awesome picture quality

Cons: After 1 year and 1 month the screen will just go black, its not giving me a lost signal messege you can turn it off and turn it back on and the picture will return but go black again after a short period of time. of course all this happened as soon as the warranty period was up.

4 out of 5 eggs Great value

Pros: Price was just right after rebates.
Monitor itself looks great, and no screws or anything requiring a tool, making setup an easy click/lock and good to go.
Brightness and color contrast look beautiful.

Cons: Glare is pretty bad. It's reflective enough that when it's bright in the office, I can see myself, to fine detail...
For darker offices or entertainment areas, it'd probably be just fine. But as a primary work computer, the glare is distracting.

5 out of 5 eggs Excellent

Pros: Excellent monitor for price. Looks great, perfect size for graphics work in office, not too big, not too small. Display is excellent. I am very happy.

Cons: Some may perceive it to be too bright.
Does not come with HDMI cables.

2 out of 5 eggs Not worthy of what HP used to be

Pros: I replaced a pair of HP 2509 monitors with these after the back lights started flickering. The monitors were excellent replacements, with good color, no dead pixels, and very bright. I didn't have the reflection problems others described

Cons: After eight months, one monitor's DVI port died. I tried the HDMI port and it worked, so I got an adapter and kept on using it. I have had them about a year and a half now, and last night I noticed last night the display had shrunk. The computer still reported a 1920 x 1080 display, and the colors still looked good, but it had a black 1/2" band around the picture. When I turned it on this morning, the display was red tinged, very noisy, and streaky. It is totally unusable.

Needless to say, it is out of warranty.

Bottom Line: I didn't pay attention to the warranty when I bought the monitors (my bad). If I had noticed that the warranty is one year, I would not have bought them. First the 2509s went bad, and now the 2511. I stopped buying HP printers quite a while ago as the quality went into free fall, and I guess I'll just have to write off HP monitors now. Too bad ... I started buying HP test equipment in the 70's.

4 out of 5 eggs About 95% perfect!

Pros: Monitor has a very clear picture when I am gaming or when watching my movies.

Cons: Only issue I have with it is when my computer goes into sleep mode sometimes the monitor will have an issue with coming back on if turning computer out of sleep to quickly. Not much of a con since you shouldnt need to do that for the most part.

Bottom Line: Its a good monitor but will eventually upgrade.

2 out of 5 eggs Died after 7 months

Pros: Great picture.
Quick refresh
Good colors

Cons: Died after just 7 months. One second it was on, next it couldn't get signals on any ports. Checked cords on different monitors, all worked.

Bottom Line: Only reason this got 2 stars was because it was great while it worked.

2 out of 5 eggs Loved it... until it died (twice)

Pros: I loved the vibrant colors on the monitor and the response time was excellent. No dead pixels and great switching between different sources. Loved the present color modes and everything was good... until it died... twice.

Cons: My 2nd HP 2511X just died today. The first one died after having it for 2 months, and my replacement monitor just died a year later. The digital inputs on the back (HDMI and DVI) stopped working even though the menus still work fine.

Bottom Line: In hindsight, I should have paid extra for the extended warranty.
