    Love it

Probably one of the best network switches I have worked with. Setup was easy, just plug it in, plugin all your network devices along with your internet connection, and your on in seconds. It's that easy. All computers with GB LAN cards were ... Read more

When used in the vicinity of HF and VHF radio transceivers (500 and 50 watt respectively), the switches will restart and drop connections on random ports every 2-3 seconds. Random network crash. Read more

5 out of 5 eggs great product and service

Pros: uses small amount of wattage number depend on how ports are active and other factors, fast gigabit Ethernet, good looking product

I own 2 of these 8port switches and 2 of the 5port versions, I RMA'd one after just under 3 years of use...the customer service was great and process was painless!!!

Cons: none that I can think of

5 out of 5 eggs TRENDnet

Pros: TRENDnet makes great switches, that's all there is to it.
I've bought probably around 100 of their metal switches, all gigabit, all metal, 5-8 port types. None have had any problems at all, all run cool, run silent, and run fast.

    Cons: None

Bottom Line: I haven't really got any other TRENDnet (except 1 pcie wireless receiver (which also works great for a year) devices but they're my go to for switches for any company I'm working for.. for the past 2 years I haven't got any other switches
TRENDnet almost entirely holds the cheapest switches which have out performed linksys, netgear, dlink etc switches.. and the metal trendnet cases are great.

4 out of 5 eggs Does what it is supposed to

Pros: I've purchased a number of these over the years and all of them do what they are supposed to. Reading through the low end reviews, I laughed at some of the comments clearly made by people who don't understand networking.

I have it 4 stars because five stars would imply perfection - it definitely works, but that's expected.

In the five or so years I've been using this model I have never needed to reset one and every port deployed works.

Yes, I suppose that things can break - and given that I've paid as little at $16 for this model, I suppose it can seem that $10 to ship it for warranty replacement seems a bit much, but we live in a throw-away society.

My experience with switch failures is that they are most often related to potential differences - I had a $3,000 HP switch blow 16 of 24 ports after a nearby lightning storm - then again I've had phone systems blow out ports for similar reasons.

For the money this little switch (or it's even smaller 5 port brother) is great to build out local distribution or for use as the central switch in a home or small business network.

Cons: It is light - the connected cabled can drag it aroung

4 out of 5 eggs Overall good switch...but......

Pros: very stable switch...simple to use

    Cons: failed on me

Bottom Line: This switch was working great til it stopped working completely. Don't know what happened.. just won't power on. Always heard good things about Trendnet... was very surprised and disappointed to have it fail on me....guess I'll have to think twice before buying another...

    5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very solidly built little switch. It feels like a quality product, especially for the price.

    Cons: None

Bottom Line: It's a network switch, what more do you want?

1 out of 5 eggs 3 months past warranty, it died

    Pros: Metal Case

Cons: Pulled it off the shelf 3 months past it's warranty expiration (3 years)
It was dead. Power led flashed on and off regularly and each port LED flashed in sequence left to right over and over again.

Bottom Line: I'm not happy. Will not buy another.

5 out of 5 eggs Good gigabit switch

Pros: This has a nice box, is small, has good status lights on the front, and is very lightweight. Great addition to any home network to get the load of your router, especially if you're doing a lot of LAN communicating. Also, it doesn't get very hot.

    Cons: Honestly none.

    3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Metal case with a nice, clean design
    Plenty of ports for me

    Cons: No mounting holes

Bottom Line: The current revision of this hardware, 3.0R, does NOT have mounting holes, contrary to what other reviewers have stated (They must have reviewed an older revision).

I bought one of these to replace a TEG-S50g (Basically the 5-port version of this switch) that -does- have mounting holes and is mounted to the underside of my wooden desk. I was sorely disappointed to find that I could not simply drop this unit in in place of the old one. I'm waiting on a response from TRENDnet Support, but I doubt that they'll be able to accommodate me.

5 out of 5 eggs Very Good Switch

    Pros: Built to last
    Not cheap plastic
    Runs cool
    Can mount on wall
    Great Customer Service from TrendNet

    Cons: Rarely goes on sale.
It never writes, never calls and doesn't send flowers.
Doesn't fix me breakfast in bed.

Bottom Line: I bought this switch in August 2011 when I upgraded my home network. It worked flawlessly until three weeks before the warranty was up. Thinking I had nothing to lose, I submitted a support ticket. Two days later I received an RMA from TrendNet and shipped the switch back. Two weeks later the replacement switch arrived . I highly recommend TrendNet because of their really great customer service.

5 out of 5 eggs Good Switch

Pros: A good (unmanaged) switch. It is very easy to set up: simply connect an ethernet cable from port 1 to a router (which has a connection to the WAN internet), and connect computers to ports 2 onwards. The DHCP was automatically set if a router is used.

Cons: The switch that I received had no separate LED for connection and activity, but since they blink during activity it is all right.
