    Nice size, OVERHEATS!

Plain and simple: CPU overheats very easily. - Just running memtest86+v5.20, the cpu will hit 60 deg C after one pass and then freeze. Keep in mind, I haven't even installed a hard drive yet! When that gets put in, the system temps will be ... Read more

5 out of 5 eggs A Solid PC

Pros: >Case machined high quality - extremely accurate, well built. Vents are properly designed/positioned.
    >Internals are well laid out - hardware of high quality.
    >i3 is fast enough for most average use computing - I use it as media PC and have not heard the fan kick up during HD streaming. (Only 2 days of use but don't intend to use it any harder)
    >Overall, its a solid PC - quite simply, a laptop w/o keyboard, mouse, monitor, or DVD, in a box.
    >Newegg is pretty much the cheapest/easiest place to get these units - I looked pretty hard.

Cons: >I was not initially a fan of the intel graphics hardware and driver - it was cumbersome to get it set to view properly on the TV using HDMI. Aspect ratio had to be manually adjusted BUT on the flip side, the graphics device software made it simplistic to adjust. To further con this con, this graphics hardware is the better choice in the Brix lineup.
    >The power adapter cable that plugs into the brick is 90* and the brick is so small, the cable sticks out the side (I cant find much wrong with this thing, can't you tell I'm reaching?)
    >...

Bottom Line: Seriously, only a couple days of testing and I'm ecstatic to have found this product. I came from a custom built Dell Zino HD that had heat problems even when I tried to make it right. It was a great size and good enough for media PC but this Brix is EVEN BETTER! I have a separate Bluray player so I don't care about the lacking media drive.
I did have some concern about heat as noted in some comments and I did some testing and monitored heat w/o issues. Granted, I have yet to put it through paces but why when it will do nothing more than HD internet streaming. It will idle at around 48C which is normal. Doing a couple "capability checks" the fan kicked into high gear and held the cpu at 68C which is still reasonable. I would guess if I were doing some reasonably intensive gaming, it would ride this temp but that it TOTAL speculation. If the situation is to change, I'll update this. (if possible)

5 out of 5 eggs Great PC for moderate tasks

Pros: Tiny. No more huge media pc for me. Can transport to other peoples house or to my shop no problem. Runs a 27" TV through HDMI wth full audio at max resolution.

    Cons: None yet.

Bottom Line: It also runs the pcb design software I use for my job, although I haven't tried to do that while also streaming video to the TV.

I have built many, many pc's over the years and will probably not be buying any more ATX, mini ATX, nor even a micro ATX mobos.

5 out of 5 eggs Excellent for Media Center

Pros: This is an excellent compact PC that will serve well as your media center PC. Putting it together was a snap. Just add the SO-DIMM memory and mSATA SSD modules and you're good to go. This unit can also take a standard 2.5" SSD.

The Core i3 processor is good enough for most media center tasks. However if you are planning to use it for more than just a media center I would recommend you go to Core i5.

It is so quiet. I have not noticed the fan.

Cons: Power cable included is short.

Bottom Line: I have added a Flirc dongle for Media Center remote capability and using my old Windows Media Center remote with it.
On software side I am using Plex Home Theater and XBMC.

4 out of 5 eggs Nifty little PC

Pros: Small and quiet, decent performance for boring office tasks.

Cons: Wish it had a rear audio jack so all the cables could be run out the back.

Bottom Line: A bit tricky to install Windows 7 due to UEFI BIOS and no DVD drive. I tried a couple of suggestions with no luck until I tried the Rufus utility.

1 out of 5 eggs Nice size, OVERHEATS!

    Pros: small form factor
    i3 dual core cpu
    low power requirements
    arrived with latest F5 bios

Cons: Plain and simple: CPU overheats very easily.

    - Just running memtest86+v5.20, the cpu will hit 60 deg C after one pass and then freeze. Keep in mind, I haven't even installed a hard drive yet! When that gets put in, the system temps will be higher!
    - Sitting at idle in BIOS, system temp stays at 52*C and CPU at 51*C with the fan speed peaked out at 3600 RPM in a 26*C room with no obstructions to air flow
    - Wouldn't boot with a USB flash drive
    - Will not auto-refresh bios when a new USB device is plugged in (example: external DVD drive with boot disk or external hard drive) even when you exit the BIOS
    - When keyboard and external DVD drive are plugged into the back USB ports, the keyboard will be lost on successful start up

Bottom Line: Shining a flashlight into the back vent where the fan blows out, you can see that it almost touches the top of the case, meaning that air flow is minimal or non-existent because the motherboard almost completely blocks the side air vents.

I haven't decided if I'm going to return this or modify the case to provide the necessary air flow to cool the CPU. So far, I'm very disappointed at what was going to be my HTPC.
