The Lenovo M58 runs very smoothly. The case is well designed for great ventilation. It runs very quiet & cool. It has 8 USB-2 ports combined on the front and rear. I added a PCIe USB-3 card and a USB-3 card-reader/usb port in the 3 ½ slot where ... Read more

1 out of 5 eggs This Ones The Bomb

    Pros: Fast

Cons: Dead in the Water in 5 months.

Bottom Line: I loved my computer for 5 months and that is exactly how long it lasted because when I left the room to get a cup of coffee it blew up and that was the end of that! I can't even turn it on. I don't know how to retrieve my data. What a bad joke this purchase was.

    5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I built a CPU from NEWEGG 4 YEARS AGO, I purched this one to replace my wifes which was my old one. This unit is great faster than the one I built. No issues recieved in thre days. I am using more than my wife is.

    Cons: none

    5 out of 5 eggs ThinkCentre M58 (7244A36)

Pros: For $250, it's great machine for basic tasks like web surfing and email. Lenovo has all the drivers for Windows XP if you decide to go that route and skip the pre-installed Windows 7.

Cons: Wish the hard drive is 500GB.

Bottom Line: Wiped the machine, reconfigured it to run Windows XP Professional. Added extra 2GB RAM from for less than $17. Runs pretty faster even with an older Adobe Creative Suite CS3.

    5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great for my use of office programs and internet. A lot faster than my 10 year old machine. Will order 2 more gig of RAM. What made the sale price even better was a NEWEGG rebate. Great service from NEWEGG and Lenovo. Not the latest and greatest machine but it serves my needs.

    Cons: None

Bottom Line: The diagnostic module in the Lenovo tool box powered by PC Doctor for the CPU test is not reliable. Be sure to call Lenovo if you do not purchase your computer directly from them to get your warranty from invoice date otherwise they will use date of manufacture. For my purchase that was a difference of 2 months.

5 out of 5 eggs Very Pleased - Excellent Value

Pros: This seems to be excellent value for the money It was $250 on special. I easily added 2mb memory with no problems. (Crucial CT25664BA1067 from Newegg $13 at the same time).
The machine is used for email; web and Word. It is basic use and it is excellent and fast enough. It setup easily and it was easy to see how to burn the recovery media (essential)!
The manual is on the hard drive but you have to be intuitive to run the Lenovo tools to do a system and driver update. I also found updated chipset drivers from Intel. Called Lenovo support a couple of times. East to get in Atlanta and helpful so far with the driver updates.
    Fan is quiet.

Cons: I have had 2 small issues. Firstly, installed a Viewsonic 20" monitor. It recognizes it as generic but it will not allow installation of the Viewsonic Win7 drivers. It seems as if the issue is that the monitor is not recognized as the drivers say 'monitor not found. It seems as if the Intel graphics drivers have an issue. Also struggled to get a Netgear wireless USB recognized. Found a tip to change the inf file to generic and then it was OK.
Acronis standalone backup (Linux based) did not see external HD on front USB ports but did on the rear.
CD fit not flush, but I am PC literate so no issues really.

Bottom Line: Recommended for the purpose. Note that there are no returns with the machine. Know what you are buying it for, but for me it is good value.

5 out of 5 eggs Go away elderly parents!

Pros: Windows 7 home premium with a dual core and 2 gigs of ram for 250 bucks on sale.

Good for only three things. Surfing the internet, checking e-mail, and giving to your parents because you cannot build something this good for this cheap.

Cons: My mother called and wanted to know if she could do "The AOLs".

    Shoot me.

4 out of 5 eggs Great PC For The Money

Pros: Great PC with 4 Ram slots. Works great right out of the box. Well built for the Money spent. It was cheaper then a DIY kit of same class.

Cons: Win 7 32 bit O/S limits ram upgrade to less then 4G recognized. Not a problem upgrading to 64 bit later.Only a few minutes to remove bloatware.

Bottom Line: Bought this for my Son starting High School. Liked it so much I just ordered another for myself replacing an aging pentium 4 machine.

5 out of 5 eggs Excellent Value

    Pros: Quiet.
Fast Enough to handle most any task.

Cons: I cannot complain about anything at this price point.

Bottom Line: Kudos to Newegg for fast shipping. Kudos to Newegg for the best price by far. I bought this for my kids just so they would stay off my computer. I thought it might be slow with only 2 GB's of RAM but after using it, I see no need to add more RAM. For basic surfing and home use, this is a great deal. My kids give it their seal of approval as well. This will make a great backup computer for a remarkable price. Thanks Newegg.
