5 out of 5 eggs Pure Reviews

Pros: I have to write this review due to pure review of other people.

This machines are well built for company. Also it comes with 3 year dell support if something happens to machine they send u technician next day to repair the computer.

It is Optiplex serious 3020 basic model. I stick a ssd on some of this models works amazing.

    Cons: I don't have concerns

Bottom Line: If u want 3 year warranty - service and you want something basic. this is it.

3 out of 5 eggs Fair machine, Proprietary to the core

    Pros: Inexpensive
Expandable although you are limited (see cons)
    16x PCI-E slot

Cons: Some very bad cons here folks:

SATA Cables are not spec. They're flimsy and crease like paper meaning they lack insulation and EMF shielding.

Proprietary power supply: Dont expect to replace it if it pops. They changed the connectors and it ONLY provides 12v and 12v standby + 3 ground wires.
The wires on the PSU look like they'd melt in a fraction of a second.

Power is now being managed completely by the motherboard, manufactured by FoxCon. All lower voltages are regulated onboard and limit to what you can plug in.

Drives (CD/DVD/BD/HDD) are all powered by the motherboard. Do not go and try plugging 4 harddrives + SSD + BluRay and expect it to power on.

The system is expandable, but pray you do not run out of connectors. You are only given 275 watts to play with and a single 6-pin PCI-E aux power.

Two DDR3 slots with a cap of 2x8GB (16GB). By default, you're given only ONE stick.

Bottom Line: We purchased a large order of these for our company. Frankly as a computer technician, I am appalled at the quality of these builds. Its insulting to find out that 3 of the 50 we ordered had faulty motherboards and one tossed a harddrive within 10 days of operation. Furthermore, the limiting of 3rd party equipment really is a kick in the teeth to network admins and technicians.

This aside, the machines perform their duties very well and in an expedient fashion.

If you buy this and something breaks, be happy the onboard diagnostics tell you what's wrong, and give you a code to punch into Dell's website. This allows you to skip the whole phone call all together and have your part the next day.

Why 3 eggs? Because its not all that bad of a machine if you can get around the "value engineered" bit on the hardware.

1 out of 5 eggs huh?

Pros: A great computer for your 70 year old mother to run Internet Explorer and play Candy Crush on.

Cons: integrated graphics adapter with no path to upgrade. Look at the motherboard, there are no upgrade ports. How are you going to add a real GPU? I believe this unit is hugely over priced for what the customer is getting.
