Worked when it felt like. It actually ruined the performance of my other front USBs. Once I removed it the front USBs worked fine. Read more

4 out of 5 eggs It installed easy and it works

Pros: It was cheap and so far has read all SD and MicroSD cards without any issues. It plugged right into the USB pins on my motherboard and worked. Everything you need is included.

Cons: It feels really cheap, it's all plastic. Also it has an annoying red light on the front that stays on all the time. My motherboard supplies constant power to the USB even when the power is off. I tried to change this in the BIOs but it is not an option. I have to flick the switch on the PSU to make it shut off.

Bottom Line: I would probably just buy a USB card reader, but if you want an internal reader and you're on a budget, this one works fine.

3 out of 5 eggs Works as advertised

Pros: Works well enough and very easy to install

Cons: This is my second one of these and both have had an annoying red LED that never turns off. One customer does not mind it much. My personal usage sits behind a door, so it does not bother me, however be warned.

1 out of 5 eggs Doesn't work - for now

Pros: I got what I ordered.
Comes with different color face plates to match your case.

Cons: I got what I ordered - a card reader that does not work with Windows 10 - even though everyone stated it does.
Picture that Newegg shows is also wrong - that is not what the device looks like, just FYI...

Bottom Line: I've tried what some other reviewer tried when his device quit working - uninstall drivers, reboot, etc... doesn't work. In fact, after install, I have not been able to get this thing to work at all - it will not recognize any card inserted - and yes I'm on Windows 10 unfortunately...

I've contacted tech support at Bytecc, so will see what their response is, assuming I get one..

So in summary - first lesson learned - do NOT install Windows 10 if you ever plan on using SD cards....second lesson, do not buy this card reader if you did not learn from first lesson! It does not work as others have stated...

2 out of 5 eggs Works for a short time...UPDATE it works again.

Pros: When it worked it worked well. When I installed this Windows installed drivers for it, as it should. Here is what fixed mine once it stopped working, you might want to try this. See Other,

Cons: Constant power, even when computer is off.

Bottom Line: This one has the best reviews, but externals might be just as good.

Update for worked, then not working and wont boot if a card is in it on start up.

    Went to Device Manager.
Under Disk Drives uninstalled all 4 generic card readers (by clicking on the drive and choosing uninstall).

    Specific instruction to uninstall are:

Highlight each drive specifically, then use the right mouse button to bring up the option to Update Driver, Disable, Uninstall, Scan for Hardware Changes, or Properties...chose Uninstall (repeat for all 4 drivers) and then restart the computer

Once you have restarted, the devices automatically reinstall and it works.

It seems there may be an issue with Windows 7 64bit drivers and this device. I am running Windows 7 64 bit enterprise to be more specific.

1 out of 5 eggs Broke in less than 60 days

Pros: Was great for a little while

Cons: Worthless. Less than 60 days and now it won't read any of my memory cards.

Bottom Line: Buyer beware: They ask for a $10 check to process your RMA. Bytecc=Junk.

4 out of 5 eggs Does its job well

    Pros: - Separate microSD/T-Flash slot
    - Reads nearly every card available
    - Front USB port

    Cons: - USB 2.0 only
    - Red light on panel stays on when computer is off

Bottom Line: This is a decent quality, USB 2.0 card reader, and the price is outstanding. The fact that it's USB 2.0 could be considered either a pro or a con, depending on what headers are available on the motherboard. The 3.5" form factor is another feature that could be either a pro or a con, depending on what the case supports.

Overall this is a solid, reliable device that I would recommend to others.

4 out of 5 eggs Works great! Easy Install!

Pros: Does what it is supposed to do.

Cons: Wasn't free. Won't provide winning lottery numbers in advance.

Bottom Line: Face plate arrangement has changed a bit since photo on web page taken. Still has everything listed. All I wanted was SD, Micro SD, and Compact Flash. Yes, I still use Compact Flash!

5 out of 5 eggs Works As Intended

Pros: Looks pretty well put together. Fits nicely where it's supposed to go. All the holes on the front line up with the slots.

    Cons: None, really. It works.

Bottom Line: I wish the LED lights on the front were blue instead of red. The red really throws off my whole "Blue LEDs only" policy. oh well.

4 out of 5 eggs Great for what it is.

    Pros: Single USB connector.
    Faceplates to match case.
    Supports many cards.
    Plug and play.

Cons: Only one USB 2.0 port.

Bottom Line: I have 4 USB 3.0 ports on my Lian Li PCD600 Case. I only wanted for the extra USB 2.0 and SD card slot and this fills up my last empty 5.25 drive bay in my massive case. The red LED's didn't match. Their tiny LEDs, and can't really be removed. They can be easily destroyed with a soldering iron tho. Once they're destroyed you can easily solder standard LEDs of which ever color you prefer. I omitted the status light and opted to install a single blue LED which stays on when a card is plugged in, but interesting, wont turn on with only a USB device.

I wish the cord was a little bit longer, It's just long enough for me to connect.

4 out of 5 eggs Decent

Pros: It does what it's meant to, but...(see cons)

Cons: The slots themselves aren't super well manufactures. For instance, getting a CF card inserted is the most annoying doesn't have a good insertion system for CF, so it's a pain to bother with it sometimes. Haven't had that problem with SD cards though.

Also, why the clear/silver USB extension? Why can't it be black like everything else? Dumb choice.
