Great Media at a good price

The media type code for these discs is UMEDISC-DL1-64, which is the same media type code that has shown up on the Internet as being sold as a Verbatim brand disc, just not part of their AZO product. The discs will only write at 2.4X or 4X in ... Read more

    Useless!

I tried the first three discs, one from the middle, and one from the top third of the stack and have yet to have a successful burn. I haven't had any problems with other brands in the past and have tried these on two different PC's. Not worth ... Read more

1 out of 5 eggs Absolute garbage

Pros: Price was attractive, happened to find these on sale. I have never ordered these, thought I would give them a try. What a mistake!

Cons: I could not get a single disc to burn, and I tried several - even writing at 1x speed. Thought it was my hardware, replaced my DVD drive with a new, tested drive with same results. Afterwards I ordered a package of Memorex DL discs and these work very well. I'm writing this review to warn others - avoid these turkeys like the plague!

Bottom Line: I find it disappointing that Newegg would offer defective product like this. I am a frequent shopper here, and recommend Newegg based on my favorable experience. Unfortunately I cannot return these DVDs, so they're trashcan bound. Wish I could post this review at less than 1-star!

5 out of 5 eggs Totally Satisfied. Upgrade to 5 stars After Previous Review

Pros: With a previous pack of these DVDs I had a very poor success rate burning them on 2 laptops. After reading NewEgg reviews which stressed the need for a good burner at a slow speed I bought a Memorex burner. The improvement is dramatic. I have now burned more than 50 Quantum disks with zero failures. I concur completely that the key is the burner and speed. I use the Memorex device with an old Dell laptop running K3b software on LinuxMint. this also underscores the value of the NewEgg community, there is some excellent advice out there.

    Cons: None, problem solved.

5 out of 5 eggs I Burn With Linux

Pros: Great Price, 99% Or Better success Rate, Printing On Epson Printer Is Beautiful

    Cons: NONE

Bottom Line: I Use Only Brasero Software On Linuxmint OS, With PS Being The Only Reason I Have A Windows Computer I Found That Windows Fails At All Things Not Just Burning DVDs

1 out of 5 eggs Not worth the money at all even when these are on sale

Pros: These disks have blank white medium-rough top surface which is very good for us to use a sharpie to write on or an inkjet printer to print on. They can be used with BurnerMAX Payload tool to burn XGD3 Xbox 360 backup games given that you have a compatible DVD burner drive.

Cons: The failure rate has been 85% for me. This is extremely high.

Out of 35 disks I have burned using ImgBurn at the speed of only 4X (which is the lowest speed that these disks support):
    - Only 5 came out as successfully verified in ImgBurn
    - 19 unsuccessfully verified in ImgBurn (ImgBurn error message: Failed to Read Sectors XXXXXXX - XXXXXXX - Reason: L-EC Uncorrectable Error)
    - 11 could not complete the burns (ImgBurn error message: Failed to Write Sectors XXXXXXX - XXXXXXX - Reason: Write Error)

The sectors mentioned in XXXXXXX are usually from the second layer.

I am facing another verification failure here as I am writing this review. Time to start another burn which takes another 30+ minutes.

My DVD burner drive was bought not too long ago and is Asus DRW-24B1ST. If you are familiar with DVD burners, this drive is considered very reliable in general. I have used these disks to burn movies, data backups, Xbox 360 XGD2 games, and Xbox 360 XGD3 games.

ImgBurn verification is considered the most basic verification method and so many of these disks have already failed the verification that I don't even bother using other highly sophisticated methods.

    1 out of 5 eggs 50%

Pros: They are dual layer. Artwork printed well

Cons: Coaster city. I normally use Phillips hub printables. I have burned 1000's of those and have almost 100% success. I have gone through cakes at a time with no fails. I wanted to try dual layers for some special projects. In the first 6 I have had 3 fails. Waste of time and money.

Bottom Line: Not my equipment. I have a pretty nice custom built rig, by me, with Neweggs help of course. I had no problem before or after these with the Phillips discs.

3 out of 5 eggs Fine if you're not in a hurry

    Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: less than 100% reliable. Not for use with inexpensive/finicky burners

Bottom Line: Like many others the price drove me to give these discs a shot. I use them for product delivery in a small video production business, hence the need for dual layer printable discs. We'll see how these work out in the long term for product delivery.

I have four identical LG DVD burners and two Pioneer blueray burners in a machine running Nero Burning ROM 2014.

Three of the four LG burners seem to have no problem burning these discs at 4x. One won't burn anything on these discs at any speed.

I'm pretty sure I could put a rock in the Pioneer burners and pull out a readable disc, not that I plan on trying that. Both Pioneer burners work fine with these discs, but only at 4x.

The limitted playback experience I have with these has gone fine so far. Again, we'll see how this goes as I begin distributing them to clients. (yikes)

The verdict isn't completely in. If I don't get any complaints from clients I'll buy them again, but for quick turn products I'll be using something else.

If speed and reliability are required for dual layer discs verbatim still can't be beat.

2 out of 5 eggs Worst Optical Quantum discs I've ever used

Pros: When they burn, they burn nice

Cons: I've been using Optical Quantum discs for years. Out of about 500 BD discs I have had just 2 failures. Out of the other model of these double layer DVD discs I had no failures. This pack of Printable hub discs has been a surprise on how bad they are. I have used 41 of 50, so far, and 6 have failed. That isn't very good in my book.

Bottom Line: I've had good success with most Optical Quantum discs, BD and BD-RE and other versions of Double Layer DVDs. But these were bad and I will stick with the models that work.
