    Too Long

Too Long! The bulb is probably 3/8 inch longer than a standard MR16 bulb and did NOT fit in the outdoor 12-volt landscape lighting housing I intended to try it out in. Plugs in the socket fine but the extra length prevents putting the glass ... Read more

2 out of 5 eggs Meh...

    Pros: - Long lasting
    - Good even color and distribution

Cons: - Very dim, in-fact, super dim. Don't buy these unless you plan on adding more lights to your light bar...

Bottom Line: - They do get very hot for a 4w bulb...

    2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: * They produce light and I'm sure they will last a long time.
    * These use very little power. (Untested)
    * They won't burn you touching them while they are on.

Cons: * The light these give off is a pale purple color.
    * The housing was larger than expected.
    * Expensive

Bottom Line: The color these produce is a fairly ugly pale purple color. It is a far cry off from the 'Warm White" that is advertised. They stick out like a sore thumb compared to the halogens they replaced.

While I picked these up "on sale", they still were not cheap either.

Unless you value energy savings over all else, I can't think of a reason to buy these. My old halogen lights were cheaper and produced much more pleasing looking light.

If you don't care about the 'warmness' of the light these produce, they seem 'OK'. If you want "warm" light, these are not what you are looking for at all.

4 out of 5 eggs Rebate? limit !1!

    Pros: nicely focused and bright

Cons: sale price is great if you don't mind filing online for a check by mail, but instructions warn you'll only get that rebate for the 1st bulb of the group you buy.

Bottom Line: Rebate for vidcards allow two per purchase (SLI/CrossFire pair)...who's only going to swapOut just 1 halogen bulb in the row for this LED?

3 out of 5 eggs Too Long

Pros: Looks well built. Speedy Newegg shipping. Good price on this week's sale.

Cons: Too Long! The bulb is probably 3/8 inch longer than a standard MR16 bulb and did NOT fit in the outdoor 12-volt landscape lighting housing I intended to try it out in. Plugs in the socket fine but the extra length prevents putting the glass lens and ring back on the fixture to make it weatherproof.

Bottom Line: I was really excited to find what would have been a great energy efficiency improvement for the total of 7 bulbs I run adding up to 200 watts. I was all set to buy another 6 bulbs if this one looked good and that would have taken me down to 28 watts and provided a pretty quick payback on my electricity savings as these lights run all night on a flagpole and trees. Guess I'll keep looking and pay attention to the dimensions (which were not listed for this bulb) next time. Just trying to be green.
