Works great with my old IBM Model M (P/N 1391401). Allows me to use all four of my IBM battleships with any computer I've tried it with- older Macs, newish Macs, newish Dells, Asus laptops, Gigabyte-brand motherboards, old Intel P3 server mobos... ... Read more

5 out of 5 eggs Works With KVM

Pros: Plugs into the USB port of a mobo with only a single keyboard port and UEFI BIOS and then plugs into a PS-2 KVM switch (Hawking CS-168) and away we go. Works without any problems, even when switching back and forth.

Cons: What a feature! Leaving the PS-2 mouse port off the mobo and leaving just a single keyboard port. Pure genius!

Bottom Line: If you have a mobo with this latest un-feature, this gizmo will fix the problem. On the other hand, you could just buy a mobo that works....

5 out of 5 eggs Great product @ reasonable price

Pros: I waited for a while to write this just to make sure it didn't stop working, but it worked perfectly from the time I plugged it in & hasn't give me any problems since. It's truly plug 'n play. I just shut my system down, plugged this gizmo into the ps/2 mouse & keyboard connections & plugged the other end into the USB port of my PC. Very obvious & easy. I should also say that I'm using this with an older KVM 4 way switch & it STILL works perfectly. I'm using this on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit system. I tried using a few other converts of the same type that I bought on Beay for cheap. Some didn't work at all, while others worked for a while, but then stopped working all together or when I switched away from this PC to another one on the KVM, then came back to this one, I had to unplug the mouse connector & plug it back in to make the mouse start working again. I also have no trouble getting into the BIOS before the system boots up, something that sometimes happened with the cheap ones. Windows reads this port right away & loaded the driver the first time & that was that. I highly recommend this product. I've used many others that didn't work, but this one does.

Cons: About the only thing bad thing I can say about this is that it has that crazy plastic packaging that MANY items have today, that takes a can opener, flame thrower or butcher knife to get into. OK. A good pair of scissors will easily do the trick & too be honest, it's not as bad as some of them. This one has a nice easy open space at the the top that can be cut with the scissors.

As you can probably tell, I have a personal problem with that type of packaging. Too may companies use it because it IS somewhat inexpensive, it's protective & displays their product well. It's just hard to get into without cutting your hands up...

Bottom Line: I tried about 5 or 6 other ones of these same types of converts. Many were cheaper, but none worked as well as this one does. If I need one for another computer, I WILL buy another one of these. I may just do it for another PC that's giving me fits. Hmm. That's why I hate writing these, they often lead me to buying more stuff...

5 out of 5 eggs Works great

    Pros: Works well.

Cons: More expensive than some others.

Bottom Line: The TRENDnet convert just plain works.

I tried a cheaper (but almost identical looking) unit from QVS and it
would sometimes quite completely and have to be unplugged and
re-plugged. When the QVS converter was working, it mishandled
shift-lock key events.things with the shift-lock key events.

No problems with the TRENDnet converter: the shift-lock key works the
way it's supposed to (as an additional "Control" key).

5 out of 5 eggs works with my Belkin KVM

Pros: allows me to connect a USB mouse/keyboard only PC to my PS2 only Belkin 8 port KVM and works flawlessly
no additional drivers needed, it just worked, and on Hyper-V server

Cons: i had to buy it because i didn't want to spend a few hundred on a new KVM

Bottom Line: does what it's supposed to do

5 out of 5 eggs works

Pros: I still have machines with PS/2 keyboard/mice. I have KVM switchboxes that do not support USB keyboard/mice. These have worked in the situations I've put them in.

    Cons: none, so far.
