1 out of 5 eggs Terrible support and bad customer service

    Pros: Nothing

    Cons: Bad customer sevice

Bottom Line: Terrible customer service, lack of profesionalism and terrible support. They are very fast when it comes to sales but really bad when it comes to service. My NVR broke within 8 months, replacement unit was damaged and used. I will not buy from them again, that's for sure.

4 out of 5 eggs Good System

Pros: - EXCELLENT Cameras (Cameras are 5/5!) at a great value (though don't expect to read a license plate over 30' away)
    - Power over ethernet is much easier to deal with than coaxial cables and power cables
    - Setup was just as easy/hard as any other DVR
    - Dynamic DNS works, but not through LAView's service (I went with NO-IP).
    - The case had room for FOUR hard drives inside, and couldn't be any easier to mount. However, without the ability to record constant video from all channels space isn't much of a requirement.

Cons: - Need to ensure you have the latest firmware, it fixed a few issues I had when I wrote an earlier review (continuous recording and hiding the 2 side panels with CTRL-Arrow)
    - There is no ability to customize the way the cameras are viewed, you get the standard 1/4/9/16 views. The software it comes with seems to do that, but I can't get it to display anything.
    - This may not be a knock on this DVR, but my PTZ cameras I added with it (through a web interface, on a separate network, which was nice) are not very responsive on the PTZ part.

Bottom Line: Not really a "con", but some other things I didn't like:
    - Plugin doesn't seem to work for me in Chrome, I had to use FireFox or IE.
    - The LAView mobile app sucks, but the iVMS-4500 works great
    - No ability to upload data to a website or FTP site for when somebody takes your DVR when they rob your house.
    - No video's in email notifications, and the pictures it sends are far below the camera capabilities
    - None of the 12 camera's came with audio. Be nice if the set had a couple that supported it.
    - Want to add a POE camera? Get ready to spend well over $100, if not $200-$300 for another one.

These are cons, but with my experience it is a con with all DVRs:
    - You get a 9 camera screen, and 16, but if you have 12 cameras you basically just lose 25% of resolution to view all 12.
    - Motion sensors can't distinguish between car headlights on your yard, and a person on your yard, which stinks if there is a lot of night traffic in your area. If you enable motion, be prepared for lots of false alarms.

I won't count this against the Laview, but wasps LOVE the cameras and are constantly walking over the cameras. It is very annoying, and causes a lot of motion alerts. It'd be nice if there was some chemical that could be applied that would keep them away, or just make them not love the cameras so much anymore.

This was an updated version of a review I gave earlier with 3 stars, but now that continuous record works with the new version my complaints are much more trivial.

5 out of 5 eggs Great system for business

Pros: I put cameras in my store and warehouse. The system is the right size for my business. I plan to add two more cameras later outside the front door later but right now 12 cameras are pretty adequate already.

The video quality of the images is satisfying at the 1080p. Compared the other analog systems, the IP is a total whole different thing.
I put full 16 TB hard drive in the nvr so the machine can store video storage at xx30 fps at FHD for about two month. Hopefully the auto-overriding feature can keep the nvr record all the time.
POE switch is built in the recorder and the kit comes with 12 x 100ft cables. The maximum length for a cable is 300ft. The camera POE is really the best invention for those who can utilize the exisiting network switch in the office like us. I also added two more ip cams remotely from the other warehouse. In fact, using IP, you can add cameras from all over the world to your nvr as long as you have access to it.

Cons: The document comes with the unit is simple. For people have internet networking experience, the system is easy to set-up. There are still some fancier functions available but not explained in the documents. I plan to call their local tech support to figure those out.

Bottom Line: If you want to install a surveillance system for a small business and want to go for IP systems, this product is a very good choice.
