The Alphacool Core Thermal Pad Soft 6.2W/mk 40x40x1mm is a soft, silicone-based thermal pad, 40 x 40 mm and 1 mm thick, rated 6.2 W/mK (±10%), one pad per pack. It is blue, electrically non-conductive, and can be used to cool electronic components of all kinds. We also stock this thickness as a 100 x 100 mm pad.
Alphacool calls this its performance thermal pad, for any place where it is essential to effectively dissipate waste heat. In addition to the voltage converters and VRAMs on graphics cards, it suits parts inside Playstation and Xbox game consoles. Alphacool says those parts can also be cooled this way, greatly improving their performance and durability.
The Soft heat conduction pad is characterized, in Alphacool's words, by optimal compressibility. Due to its low hardness and a natural stickiness, Alphacool says, the Core pad adapts perfectly to surfaces. It compensates for unevenness between components and thus ensures what Alphacool calls a significant improvement in heat transfer. The data sheet sums the pad up in five points: high thermal conductivity, low thermal resistance, high compressibility and compliancy, natural tack and good electrical insulation.
Alphacool credits a special material composition that reduces the risk of silicone bleeding. By its account the pad can be used for a substantially longer period of time than conventional heat conduction pads without significantly losing performance.
Alphacool describes the electrical insulation as excellent. Because the material does not conduct electricity, the same pad can go into electric vehicles, autopilot systems, cell phones, servers, motherboards, power supplies, LCD TVs, notebooks, telecommunication devices, access points, memory modules, etc.
