The Alphacool Apex Thermal Pad Soft 16W/mk 120x20x1mm is a silicone-based thermal pad, 120 x 20 mm and 1 mm thick, rated 16.6 W/mK (±10%), one pad per pack. It is electrically insulating and made for heat dissipation from electrical components. We also stock this size as the Apex Thermal Pad Soft 18W/mk.
Alphacool offers a wide range of thermal pads to enable effective heat dissipation from electrical components, and calls the Apex the most powerful option among them. This one is silicone-based and ultrasoft (Alphacool also writes ultra-soft), and has what Alphacool describes as optimal compressibility. Due to its low hardness and natural stickiness, Alphacool says, it can be perfectly adapted to surfaces. It evens out unevenness between components, compensating for their irregularities, and thus, by Alphacool's account, greatly improves heat transfer. Alphacool adds that the pad can reliably dissipate the waste heat and that, thanks to its strong compressibility, it is also versatile. The data sheet sums the pad up in five points: high thermal conductivity, low thermal resistance, good electrical insulation, high compressibility and natural tack.
Alphacool promises an increased lifespan. The risk of silicone bleeding is significantly reduced in this pad, which Alphacool puts down to its unique material composition. By its account the pad can cool reliably for a far longer period of time than conventional thermal pads, without suffering a significant drop in performance.
Alphacool credits the pad with excellent electrical insulation, with a volume resistivity of 5×10¹² ohm-m. That makes it suitable for cooling electrical components in many kinds of devices. Alphacool lists a wide range, such as electric vehicles, autopilot systems, mobile phones, servers, motherboards, power supplies, LCD TVs, notebooks, telecommunications equipment, access points, memory modules and many others.
