The Alphacool Core Thermal Pad Soft 9W/mk 100x100x1.5mm is a soft, silicone-based thermal pad for cooling electronic components, one 100 x 100 x 1.5 mm sheet rated at 9.0 W/mK (±10%), article number 13417. It is electrically non-conductive. The next thickness up in the same range is the 2 mm sheet.
Alphacool describes it as a performance thermal pad to cool electronic components of all kinds, one that can be used where it is essential to effectively dissipate waste heat. On graphics cards that means the voltage converters and VRAMs. In addition, Alphacool says the electronic components of Playstation and Xbox game consoles can also be cooled with it, greatly improving their performance and durability.
The Soft heat conduction pad is characterized by what Alphacool calls optimal compressibility. Due to its low hardness and a natural stickiness, the maker says, the pad adapts perfectly to surfaces and compensates for unevenness between components. Alphacool's claim is that this thus ensures a significant improvement in heat transfer. Its data sheet sums the pad up in five points: high thermal conductivity, low thermal resistance, high compressibility and compliancy, natural tack and good electrical insulation.
According to Alphacool, the special material composition of the Core pad reduces the risk of silicone bleeding. By its account the sheet can be used for a substantially longer period of time than conventional heat conduction pads without significantly losing performance.
Alphacool rates the electrical insulation of the pad as excellent. For that reason it names further uses: electronic components in electric vehicles, autopilot systems, cell phones, servers, motherboards and power supplies. The list goes on with LCD TVs, notebooks, telecommunication devices, access points, memory modules, etc.
The packaged unit measures 130 x 130 x 2 mm and weighs 64 g.
