The Alphacool ES Reservoir 2U - DDC Version is a reservoir with an integrated pump top for a DDC pump, 62 x 80 x 60 mm, for 2U server racks and workstations. No pump is pre-installed. It offers 11 G1/4 connections, and the lower one for 1U racks is the ES Reservoir 1U.
Alphacool built this ES 2U Reservoir around the DDC, which it calls a powerful pump, and gave it many connection and mounting options. In its words, the combination of all these features provides a perfect solution for the 2U format. It also describes the DDC version as an extremely compact reservoir, especially for a rack of that height.
The reservoir has a total of 10 inputs and one output, all with a G1/4 thread. There are 2 inputs on each side and 2 on top, and Alphacool says the top pair allow you to fill the reservoir perfectly. One inlet is used to fill in the liquid while the second allows the air to escape during filling. Thanks to these connection possibilities there are various options to position the expansion tank in a server rack.
Ideally, the expansion tank sits right on the radiator. For this purpose, the package holds mounting frames and a double connector fitting. The double connector is the direct connection with an Alphacool NexXxoS radiator of the X-Flow series, and the reservoir is then attached to it with the enclosed mounting brackets. Those radiators naturally have suitable mounting holes for this. This type of mounting makes it possible to position the two either next to each other or with the reservoir offset in front of the radiator. The corresponding options are listed in detail in the instructions, which also show the reservoir and radiator mounted together on a fan.
The box holds 10 screw plugs for the 11 ports. A loop uses the output and at least one input, and every unused inlet is closed with a plug, tightened with the plug tool. To fill, make sure all openings are closed, then pour through the upper fill port with a funnel or beaker. The water level drops when the pump first runs, so keep filling until it stops dropping and the pump cannot run dry.
