The Alphacool Aurora Plexi X4 D-RAM Water Block is a RAM water block that screws onto Alphacool's D-RAM modules (manufacturer no. 17268), with two G1/4 ports and digital RGB lighting. The modules are not in the box. Alphacool now lists this water cooler as the Aurora Acryl X4 D-RAM.
Alphacool says the cooler, in combination with its modules, offers the perfect cooling solution for your RAM. The cooler itself consists of a copper block which has been nickel plated, massive at 4 mm thick. Its design is now identical to all new Aurora products from Alphacool. Alphacool explains the frame in its own words: since a pure Plexiblock is not very pretty, "we have embedded a nice black frame". In its words, that makes the block more interesting and fits harmonically very well into the Aurora series.
The LED strip with the addressable digital LEDs sits flush in the side of the block, with nothing sticking out.
The aRGB strip has six LEDs, enough to illuminate the entire block homogeneously. Each one can be controlled separately with an appropriate controller. With that a variety of effects is possible. Especially in combination with other Aurora water-cooling components, cross-over effects can be displayed throughout the entire PC. Dynamic lighting modes, for example, can be used to jump from the CPU block to GPU block to RAM cooler. Alphacool also names a surrounding effect with several color changes and a pulsating one, and calls the possibilities almost unlimited. It describes the lighting as the ideal extension to your other Aurora parts.
The LEDs are connected via the familiar 3-pin connector. A female to male adapter for the ADD (addressable RGB) motherboard header is in the box.
If you want to use several Aurora products, you can look forward to the integrated Y-adapter on the cable. This means that instead of using aftermarket adapters you can simply connect them to each other. Only extension cables are needed in the worst case.
The block has two G1/4 ports, so it takes two compression fittings. It cools the RAM through the D-RAM modules, which are a separate product.
