Optical Design:
11 elements in 9 groups, including 3 extra-low dispersion elements, 3 high refractive index elements, 2 aspherical elements.

Three extra-low dispersion elements
Reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve a high degree of clarity and color accuracy.

Three high refractive index elements
Help to control spherical aberrations and reduce distortion in order to realize high sharpness and accurate rendering.

Two aspherical elements
Minimize distortion and spherical aberrations in order to produce high sharpness and accurate rendering.

Compact & Lightweight
Rugged all-metal mirror body structure, ensure lens assembly. Compact and lightweight, only 340g.

Large Aperture
Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture suits working in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field. Nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Auto Focus & Eye Focus:
The lens features an STM motor for quick, quiet autofocus performance, which captures the fast-moving objects.

HD Nano Multi-layer Coating:
HD Nano multi-layer coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.

STM Motor:
STM stepping motor enables quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override.

Integrated Manual Aperture Ring
Integrated manual aperture ring for tactile exposure control; this ring also features an 'A' position for automated, camera-based aperture selection.

USB Firmware Upgrade
Electronic contacts convey Exif data as well as permit camera-based aperture selection. Additionally, an integrated USB port permits updating the lens's firmware.

0.3m Close-up Shooting:
The lens can be set to the deep focus position for working with distant subjects. Or to the Close-up position for working with subjects as close as 30cm/0.98ft away, and giving a pleasing bokeh quality.
