The Alphacool ES Reservoir 1U - DDC Version is a reservoir with an integrated pump top for a DDC pump, 100.20 x 67.87 x 40.00 mm, specially designed for 1U server racks. No pump is pre-installed, and it takes a DDC version with the original Laing pump housing. Other pump housings may be larger and may not fit the reservoir. The taller one for 2U racks is the ES Reservoir 2U.
This is an expansion tank and a pump top in a single, extremely compact part for a liquid cooling loop. Alphacool says the pump top allows for extremely high pump performance from the DDC, and that the large reservoir is more than sufficient for a loop in a 1U server rack. Alphacool also describes it as an expansion tank especially for 1U racks, with extensive connection and mounting options. It is part of the Enterprise Solutions series.
It offers a total of seven G1/4 connections, and the connection possibilities are distributed on all sides. One IN is located on each side. Additionally, the top side has two IN that are mainly used for filling: fill directly through one while the second lets air escape more easily during the process. Due to that many connection possibilities, various mounting options are possible.
There are mounting holes on the sides that allow you to mount the tank in the standard 2.5" hard disk space, where it is screwed in place like a 2.5" SSD. If there is no corresponding mounting space available, use the included Velcro pad. Both parts of the Velcro tape have an adhesive surface, allowing you to attach one part to the case and one to the reservoir before simply sticking them together. The assembly is finished at that point, and it is easily removed again if needed.
The scope of delivery includes a double connector fitting, with which the reservoir is screwed directly to a radiator of the Alphacool NexXxoS series. For 1U housings Alphacool offers special 40 mm radiators from the NexXxoS X-Flow series. With these, the reservoir is mounted via the double connector, on the side or in front of the radiator. That saves a lot of space instead of connecting the two with a longer hose. The double connector has two rotatable sides: one is screwed into the radiator and the other into the tank.
Alphacool calls the installation of the pump very easy: the O-ring is put on, then the pump is placed into the pump top and fixed with four screws. Please note the housing limit above when you pick one from our DDC pumps.
The reservoir has seven ports and the box holds five screw plugs. A loop uses the OUT and at least one IN, and every unused inlet is closed with a plug, tightened with the plug tool. To fill, make sure all openings are closed, then pour through the upper fill port with a funnel or beaker. The water level drops when the pump first runs, so keep filling until it stops dropping and the pump cannot run dry.
