Step 1: Locate Antenna Ports Find the external antenna ports on your Linksys router, Cisco access point, or Trimble device. Most Linksys routers have 2 antenna connectors.
Step 2: Remove Old Antennas Carefully unscrew your existing antennas by turning them counterclockwise. Most are hand-tightenedno tools needed.
Step 3: Attach New AntennasScrew the RP-TNC male connector onto the RP-TNC female port. Hand-tighten onlydo not use tools or overtighten to avoid damaging the connector.
Step 4: Position for Optimal Signal Adjust the tilt-and-swivel hinge to angle antennas as needed:
- Routers: Position antennas vertically for maximum horizontal coverage
- Multi-story buildings: Angle antennas at 45° to improve vertical coverage
- Metal obstructions: Position antennas away from metal surfaces
Step 5: Test & EnjoyPower on your device and enjoy enhanced wireless coverage.
- Compatibility Check: Ensure your device has RP-TNC female ports (internal threads with a center hole). This is the standard on most Linksys/Cisco products.
- Antenna Orientation: For omnidirectional antennas, vertical orientation generally provides the best horizontal coverage.
- Signal Environment: Actual range improvement depends on environmental factors including walls, interference from other electronics, and the transmit power of your device.
- Not for RP-SMA Devices: If your device has RP-SMA connectors (common on ASUS, TP-Link, Netgear), this antenna will not fit without an adapter.
