AEC-82885T is a 12Gb/s SAS-3 expander based on the Microchip/PMC 82885T. It aggregates one or more upstream links from an LSI/Broadcom HBA or RAID card and fans them out to many drives. This model exposes nine mini-SAS HD connectors7× internal SFF-8643 and 2× external SFF-8644 so you can connect internal backplanes and external JBOD enclosures simultaneously. It supports SAS drives natively and SATA via STP, and provides SES-2/SGPIO enclosure management. The PCIe edge supplies power only; all data flows through mini-SAS cables.
