- This hardware component bridges PCIe slots on a motherboard and U.2 NVMe SSDs through SFF-8654 connectors. These are enterprise-grade SSDs that use the NVMe protocol over a PCIe connection. They are 2.5-inch in size and have an SFF-8639 or SFF-8654 connector. MUST support bifurcation otherwise only the first drive can be recognized. It does not support SAS or SATA SSD. Full height and low profile bracket included. 85Ohm PCB, optimal traces. The adapter supports the PCIe 4.0 standard, offering a total bandwidth of up to 4 lanes (X4), providing ample througH-Put for high-speed data transfer from connected NVMe drives. PCIe 4.0 doubles the bandwidth compared to PCIe 3.0, making it ideal for handling the speed capabilities of modern NVMe SSDs. (It does not support hot swapping!) This type of adapter is beneficial for server environments or high-end workstations where multiple high-performance NVMe SSDs need to be installed and utilized efficiently.
