Thermal Grizzly's Intel 1851 Delid-Die-Mate Heater V1 is a specially designed heating element for the Intel 1851 Delid-Die-Mate V1, the delidding tool for Intel Core Ultra 200 CPUs. It raises the temperature of both the CPU and the delidder to 165°C, the necessary temperature for delidding. The delidder is not in the box.

    Properties

    • Designed for: Intel 1851 Delid-Die-Mate V1
    • Use: Heating element for warming the CPU
    • Target temperature: 165°C (preset)
    • Power: USB Type-C, at least 65 watts
    • Control: Control unit with OLED display
    • Weight: 243 g, 337 g boxed

    How it works

The heater is a PTFE-made housing that holds the delidder. Its operation is controlled via a control unit with an OLED display, which is connected to the heater with two cables and shows the temperature. Three buttons on the unit switch the heating element on or off and move the preset target up or down. The element turns off automatically when the target is reached, and for safety it always turns off after 30 minutes.

    What you need with it

A laptop/smartphone charger with at least 65 watts of power and a USB Type-C connector is required for the heater to operate, and it is not included. The default settings are made for a 65 W (20 V; 3.25 A) power supply; with less, the warm-up time increases and the presets have to be changed, which Thermal Grizzly does not recommend. A small amount of thermal paste is also needed, and a 1g Kryonaut comes with the heater.

    Why the CPU is heated

Before delidding with the Delid-Die-Mate, the CPU should be heated to 165°C (the melting point of indium is 157°C) to liquefy the indium, making it easier to remove the heat spreader. That minimizes mechanical stress on the chip and helps prevent damage; otherwise, there is a high risk of damaging the CPU during delidding. Household tools (an oven, a heat gun) can do the heating too; this heater is the tool Thermal Grizzly made to simplify it.

    Warning instructions

    • Note and follow these warning instructions when using the heater.
    • Caution: removing a processor's heat spreader (delidding) is done at your own risk.
    • Delidding the CPU voids the manufacturer's warranty, and damage caused during delidding is not covered by the manufacturer.

    In the box

    • 1x angle wrench
    • 1x TG Cleaning Wipes
    • 1x Kryonaut, 1g
