A CPU water block for Intel LGA 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156, 1200, 1700 and 1851 made from full copper, with the top and the base both plated with nickel. The Watercool HEATKILLER® IV PRO (Intel LGA 1X00) COPPER Ni mounts with Watercool's tool-less Easy-Mount system and takes fittings up to 19 mm wide.
Watercool calls its HEATKILLER® series CPU water blocks some of the best performing and most popular CPU blocks on the market. The series dates from its introduction in 2001, and Watercool has continuously enhanced and improved it since. In its words the HEATKILLER® IV is the most comprehensive and recent iteration of the franchise. What sets the IV apart from the block before it:
Through all its developments, the cooling engine took the biggest evolutionary step. Watercool gave the cold plate significantly thinner fins, which results in a larger surface and better heat dissipation, and it made sure at the same time that the flow rate isn't impacted by this. The separate jet plate design was dropped, with its mechanics integrated directly into the top. Watercool says this new technology improves performance, flow rate and reliability.
Watercool developed what it calls the revolutionary Easy-Mount system to simplify the installation process. After the first installation, the block can be installed and uninstalled completely tool-less. The system also provides a fixed stop of the installation bolts, so a faulty installation is almost impossible with it. The contact pressure follows the CPU maker's specifications; tighten the studs and knurled nuts evenly and crosswise with the included mounting material.
But the design should also be worthy of a WATERCOOL product: Watercool says only the highest quality raw materials combined with the most cutting edge, premium manufacturing technologies make a true HEATKILLER IV. As a final touch on the design it took care of customers' requests, making the block compatible with fittings of up to 19 mm width.
All HEATKILLER components are manufactured on Watercool's own CNC machines at the WATERCOOL headquarters in Waren, Germany. Many steps of the process are manual labor, and each product is finished under the dual control principle, which Watercool calls truly "Made in Germany".
For mounting on the socket LGA1700 Watercool writes "we strongly recommend one of the available backplates", because of the socket problems (bending). The two are the HEATKILLER IV Backplate INTEL 1700 (10014) and the HEATKILLER LGA1700 HEAVY Backplate (10016).
