4 out of 5 eggs Overdue for new TV, this wowed all of us

We first bought a flat screen for my Parents' 50th anniversary in 2007...the timing was also right in that the FCC was moving everyone off of NTSC to ATSC, back then flat screens were luxury item and although I remember paying about $750 for a 42 inch unit, and the TV we got did last a long time, it was a pain in other ways. The main one being that it was difficult to use with a computer (no smart TVs back then) in that the HDMI inputs were set to a fixed scan rate (1280x1024) and the computer display overscan always needed adjustment. Also, I was unable to see the UEFI screen and always had to use a small multiscan monitor instead to even be able to see any firmware menu on the computer. Probably way overdue, but we worked around it way too long...but finally the 2007 vintage flatscreen went bad, so we ere overdue for another TV. This one looks great...it does everything we need of it, plus is a bit bigger (we have a fixed space we want to use it in, so 50" is as large as will fit but still is larger screen then she had). Only quibble was that it was a bit of a search to find settings comparable to old TV, namely having the TV power up with HDMI1 input default active, also trying to find out how to delete unused channels wasn't obvious to me. Having spent some time looking it up, the TV is now setup the way we want. The image is sharp, and Google TV channels were a bonus...over our existing Sling Blue TV, several new channels available. Still getting used to installing apps, have installed a browser but isn't compatible with Google account, so probably will uninstall and try to find compatible browser. Don't plan to do much browsing on TV but wanted to set one up as an option. The price was $80 less here than on <site deleted> , it came in about a week, well boxed, pretty easy to set up...I had initial problem in that the screen went blank and I though there was something wrong with the TV, but it was just set on channel with no content somehow, once I got it setup with valid input it worked just fine...but it had me going for awhile till I figured out what was going on. I've got a similarly old 36" flatscreen which fortunately for me does support multiscan, but I'm now thinking of getting one like this, maybe a bigger screen (I've got a pretty large room where normal distance to screen is 10-12 feet). I currently use a portable chair to get close enough for computer display work when I need it (not very often, as I more commonly use a laptop in place of the desktop connected to the TV)). One of these would fit the spot nicely in a bit larger size. Thanks for offering this TV for sale...it seems to have fit what we need from a TV very well.

FPD Smart Home Response:

Dear Customer, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and insightful review. We truly appreciate you choosing our TV to replace your long-serving 2007 flatscreen. We're glad to hear that the 50" size is a perfect fit for your space and that you’re enjoying the crisp image quality and the additional Google TV channels. We understand that setting up the HDMI1 input and deleting unused channels might have required a bit of searching, and we appreciate your patience in getting everything configured just the way you like it. Your feedback on the browser compatibility and other setup points is invaluable, and we'll certainly take it into consideration to further enhance the user experience. If you do decide to upgrade the 36" flatscreen to a larger size, we’d be happy to assist you in finding the perfect model that suits your room size and viewing preferences. Thank you once again for your detailed review and for choosing our product. We hope it continues to meet your expectations and provide you with an enjoyable viewing experience. Best regards, FPD Customer Support Team
