04/09/2008 Press Release
Top 20 will receive great prizes and the winner - a chance to see their commercial on cable television
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. – Newegg.com, the second largest online-only retailer in the United States, is looking for the next directing star. Newegg’s first-ever video contest challenges loyal customers to create their own newegg.com commercial highlighting what they like about shopping at the online technology superstore. Prizes include an LCD television, high-end desktop memory, audio systems, and more; best of all, the grand prize winner gets the chance to see their work aired on local cable television.
“Our customer base is passionate about Newegg,” said Bernard Luthi, vice president of merchandising, Newegg. “The contest is our way of spotlighting our customers’ hidden talents, while telling the story of Newegg’s customer experience through their perspective.”
The online retailer is known for its outstanding customer focus – exceptional service, fast shipping, competitive prices, and large product selection. Newegg officials are hoping the commercials will encourage loyal technology and video enthusiasts to share what draws them to the site and showcase their diverse talents. It also aims at expanding the company’s online community.
The competition, which runs through April 25, will be judged by Newegg employees based on originality, creativity, appeal, and how well it addresses the customer experience. As a reward for the fans’ hard work, Newegg offers great prizes for the top 20 commercials. The grand prize winner will receive a Westinghouse 37” LCD television and the chance to see their commercial aired on cable television.
