    Pretty good but fair QC

I have bought several of the AAKX drives in various sizes. All are a speed improvement over previous AAKS drives. HDTune4.6 Pro reports of MAX MB/s 125-ish and MIN MB/s 65-ish. Access times sub 13ms. This is the standard Benchmark reports. ... Read more

    Features
    Storage Capacity Up to 6TB
Boost your PC storage with WD Blue drives, the brand designed specifically for desktop and all-inone PCs. The WD Blue family now delivers data storage capacities up to 6TB.

    Improve PC Performance
Pair a larger capacity drive with an SSD to give your desktop a performance and storage boost. The SSD maximizes speed of data access, while the WD Blue drive stores up to 6TB of movies, games, files, applications and more.

    Upgrade and Backup with Ease
WD hard drives come with free access to WD Acronis True Image. Backup and restore functions make it easy to save and retrieve your personal data without the need to reinstall the OS.

    Future-Proof Your Storage

5 out of 5 eggs Dependable Storage

Pros: Reliable for me. Owned and in continuous use since fall of 2012. I'm horrible and almost never turn off my computer so it's literally been on for years; not that the HDD is running that entire time, but you get the idea.

Modest amount of storage for a modest price. I've never been a professional user or a content hoarder, so 500GB, is all I ever have needed. It's been close to full a few times but that was due to storing too many copies of Fallout and Elder Scrolls mods. Like I said, I use my PC to write, browse the internet and play games.

Cons: None. I have an SSD drive for games, and if I wanted greater storage capacity I would get a drive with greater storage capacity. I can't fault this drive for being what it is intended to be.

Bottom Line: I'm building a new machine soon and I'm going to use mostly cheap TLC drives ( they're almost as fast as MLC drives these days, and are good for over 10gigs of writes per day, which I do not come close to, so I'll take the $ discount over MLC ), but I'll slap this old platter box into it as well for the occasional back up mirror.

3 out of 5 eggs referb hit or miss

Pros: Cheap and quick delivery. Easy to install.

Cons: Used. One of two crashed after only two years, took the system down with it.

Bottom Line: WD is usually a good brand.

1 out of 5 eggs Failed after a year and a half, awful support

Pros: I like the color blue.

Cons: Drive failed after a year and a half! Western Digital dragged their feet with the RMA. By the time I got the replacement I had to go on deployment for a year. Now that I'm back I opened the box with a new HDD from western digital in the electrostatic packaging and everything, only to find out they sent me a refurbished generic drive that wasn't even the same blue model as the one I bought. I didn't care until I plugged it in and it started making all sorts of sounds, and wasn't detected by disk management. They won't replace the garbage they sent me because it doesn't get a fresh warranty and goes off the date of the first drive, beautiful.

Bottom Line: Any drive can fail, but go with a company that will actually help you if it does. I've had great support from Hitachi and Samsung.

5 out of 5 eggs Hundreds in Service

Pros: I buy these for computer repairs and upgrades where I work where there are hundreds of these drives in service. I buy them for my personal use as well. I have had excellent success with these drives and will continue to buy more in the future. Thanks to WD for building reliable, fast drives I can depend on at work and at home.

    Cons: No cons.

Bottom Line: I would recommend the WD Blue series (and WD's other 'colors') to friends and family.

1 out of 5 eggs DOA

    Pros: Fast shipping.

Cons: Dead on arrival. Unable to be detected after switching out several SATA cables. All it did was whine and click, but couldn't be detected.

Bottom Line: First time being disappointed with these people.

5 out of 5 eggs Still working.

Pros: The drive is still working since 1/18/2012.

    Cons: N/A

Bottom Line: I used this H.D.D from a bundle deal on Newegg for a budget build for a lady who just wanted to do Word processing, Emails, and surfing the web. It is still spinning 4 years later.
