Please check the HEPA filter's color to relief your concern on whether the machine is purifying the air. The unused filter inside is completely white.
It may a little bit smells at the first use, as it's carbon based, and it will disappear after several hours usage.
Please take out the plastic bag of HEPA filter inside the purifier before running it, or you will hear a humming sound.
The filter should be replaced every 6 monthes to ensure best results. (it's depending on surroungding enviroments ).
