In 2019, RM42-502 was released as SilverStones first 4U rackmount with 240mm liquid cooling radiator support, followed by the release of RM44 which featured enhanced radiator support of up to 360mm and greater hardware compatibility. Fast forward to 2023, the release of RM51 brings yet another new take in rackmount chassis design with radiator compatibility, while also moving to a larger size 5U form factor. RM51 is designed for maximum compactness and space optimization, which supports motherboard of up to SSI-EEB, graphics card clearance of up to 455mm and power supply clearance of 190mm.
With an added 1U height compared to previously released 4U chassis', allows for much greater cooling potential, which supports 2 x 180mm fans at the front (2 x Air Penetrator 184i PRO pre-installed) which is downward compatible with 3 x 120mm fans and up to 360mm liquid cooling radiator. Alike RM44, a graphics card retainer is included with reserved storage drive mounting holes which prevents sagging and moving of graphics cards while supporting up to 2 x 3.5" HDDs or 3 x 2.5" SSDs. A removable drive cage is included to support 2 x 3.5" HDDs - if unoccupied and left unused, opens up the option of a secondary SFX or SFX-L PSU to be installed.
The internal chassis also includes 4 x 2.5" SSD trays, so the chassis supports up to 7 x 2.5" SSDs or 4 x 3.5" HDDs and 4 x 2.5" SSDs. Other notable features include reserved mounting holes for sliding rails, 1 x USB Type-C interface, 8 x expansion slot, and last but not least, case feet are also included which allows the users to opt for a vertical placement instead of the usual horizontal orientation.
